Just two weeks after rolling out Gemini 4 Argon, excited to share a preview of Gemini 4 Carbon - our next frontier model. It has state-of-the-art long horizon coding capabilities driving SOTA performance across the cybersecurity defense lifecycle including detection, validation, and remediation. It also ranks #1 overall on the recently updated v5.0 of Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index at 59. We're starting by rolling out to a subset of cyber defenders through our Fairwind Program this week and soon expanding access further. Read more at: blog.google/innovation-and-a…

Gemini 3.1 Flash Lite Image (Nano Banana 2 Lite) has entered the Text-to-Image Arena. It ranks #5 overall. Google's latest Gemini-3.1-Flash-Lite-Image lands on the Pareto frontier: scoring 1251 at just $0.034/image. This is near flagship quality at a fraction of the price. The cost-to-quality curve just got a lot more interesting. Congrats to @GoogleDeepMind on the release!
We’re shipping 2 major releases:
🔘 Nano Banana 2 Lite: our fastest and cheapest Gemini Image model 🔘 Gemini Omni Flash: now available via the Gemini API and in @GoogleAIStudio to help developers generate and edit high-quality videos.

This is absolutely shameful. Agents of a federal agency unnecessarily escalating, and then executing a defenseless citizen whose offense appears to be using his cell phone camera. Every person regardless of political affiliation should be denouncing this.

🚨 New paper 🚨 Excited to share my first paper w/ my PhD students!! We find that advanced LLM capabilities conferred by instruction or alignment tuning (e.g., SFT, RLHF, DPO, GRPO) can be encoded into model diff vectors (à la task vectors) and transferred across model versions. 💡You don’t necessarily need to fine-tune from scratch again for every new base model version. Instead, fine-tune once and add the diff vector to updated versions! ♻️♻️♻️. This can also offer a stronger and more computationally efficient starting point when further training is feasible. 📰: tinyurl.com/finetuning-trans… More 👇

Based on our latest evaluation, LLMs today are still struggle to dynamically adapt to our ever-changing world. Strikingly, open source LLMs such as Mixtral 8x7B, when combined w/ FreshPrompt, can be competitive with closed source models and commercial APIs on search-augmented QA.
🚨 New @GoogleAI paper: 🤖 LLMs are game-changers, but can they help us navigate a constantly changing world? 🤔 As of now, our work shows that LLMs, no matter their size, struggle when it comes to fast-changing knowledge & false premises. 📰: arxiv.org/abs/2310.03214 👇

I’m very excited to share our work on Gemini today! Gemini is a family of multimodal models that demonstrate really strong capabilities across the image, audio, video, and text domains. Our most-capable model, Gemini Ultra, advances the state of the art in 30 of 32 benchmarks, including 10 of 12 popular text and reasoning benchmarks, 9 of 9 image understanding benchmarks, 6 of 6 video understanding benchmarks, and 5 of 5 speech recognition and speech translation benchmarks. Gemini Ultra is the first model to achieve human-expert performance on MMLU across 57 subjects with a score above 90%. It also achieves a new state-of-the-art score of 62.4% on the new MMMU multimodal reasoning benchmark, outperforming the previous best model by more than 5 percentage points. Gemini was built by an awesome team of people from @GoogleDeepMind, @GoogleResearch, and elsewhere at @Google, and is one of the largest science and engineering efforts we’ve ever undertaken. As one of the two overall technical leads of the Gemini effort, along with my colleague @OriolVinyalsML, I am incredibly proud of the whole team, and we’re so excited to be sharing our work with you today! There’s quite a lot of different material about Gemini available, starting with: Main blog post: blog.google/technology/ai/go… 60-page technical report authored by th Gemini Team: deepmind.google/gemini/gemin… In this thread, I’ll walk you through some of the highlights.
