Healey should put a cap on MPs expense claims. No more £45k water bills. Let’s see a bit of housekeeping done in parliament. Allow claims but ensure they fit with the public expenditure. Anything above they pay out of their own pocket. Bring some trust back into Parliament.

Barely two months ago, we lost Professor Jason Arday. Thousands grieved. Institutions across higher education spoke about inclusion and belonging. Now Nathan Cofnas is being given a room at Oriel College, Oxford, to ask whether DEI is undermining higher education. 🧵

An Oxford platform for anti-Black racism. Nathan Cofnas claimed Black professors at Harvard would virtually disappear under a meritocracy. Now he’s invited to lecture on DEI at Oriel College. After Jason Arday, where is the reckoning? jamradio.uk/news/2026/10/23/…

For Black History Month, I’m honouring those whose stories I’ve told & their amazing contributions. Kelvin Genuis & Aaron Palmer started Penguins Palace Swim School to boost Black swimming numbers. Through better representation they’ve given kids & adults confidence in the water

POST OFFICE SEARCHED HIS HOME FOR £85K You fight off an armed robber and get an award. Then you get home and strangers are searching your house. They work for the @PostOffice and they are hunting for £85K. Meet Tom Brown, a postmaster from Stanley in County Durham with 30 years of service. In 2008 he ran the North Kenton branch in Newcastle. A branch audit said £85K was missing, and the Post Office decided he had taken it. For over a year he rang the Post Office helpline 2 or 3 times a month about missing cash. The helpline told him it would come back by itself. It never did. The Post Office suspended him the next day and sent a team to search his house. Tom Brown told them a man about to lose everything has no spare £85K lying around, and invited them to look. He was arrested too, then charged with false accounting, which is a posh way of saying fiddling the books. Picture strangers going through your home for cash you know you never took. Then picture your name splashed across the local papers next to the word stealing. Tom Brown later told the Post Office Horizon IT Inquiry @PostOffInquiry that the shortfalls carried on after the Post Office put its own staff into the branch. He took that as a sign it was not him. Fair guess. In 2013 the Post Office dropped the case at Newcastle Crown Court and offered no evidence. It took nearly 5 years to notice it had none. The judge told him he would no doubt take it further. By then he had lost his business and his home and gone bankrupt. Reports put the total loss at around £500K. He ended up in social housing with his son and grandchildren. Tom Brown died in late 2023, weeks before the @ITV drama Mr Bates vs The Post Office put the whole scandal into every living room. His compensation was still not finalised. All he asked for in his Inquiry statement was proper compensation and for someone to take accountability. His MP Kevan Jones told Parliament he never lived to see the compensation he deserved. That is how the Post Office says thank you. Sources @ChronicleLive @ComputerWeekly and others.

You can call for people to be put in concentration camps, make sexually violent and paedophilic remarks, call Black children animals & Asian people parasites but mainstream media will move on quite swiftly as long as you’re not a Black professor at Cambridge.

The Home Office offers nothing but hostility. They created a scandal and have spent years hand picking who can have the smallest bit of justice and who they will leave to jump through endless hoops. It’s cruel!

Thank you for the messages of support these last few days. It’s important for the media to hold power to account even when you do it alone as an independent, female, Black journalist. You can support my work by subscribing to my publication. thecommunityreporter.co.uk
Nigel Farage would not answer my questions around the racism and sexism in his party when he walked through an Essex town centre today. Instead his ‘bodyguard’ whom I told not to touch me, told me, ‘I can do whatever I want’.

Well done to Melissa Sigodo for persisting in the attempt to make Farage answer questions about ITV Exposure's investigation into Reform councillors who were filmed expressing racist and sexist views.

"There's nobody else to tell this story..." The New Cross fire happened at a house party in 1981; 13 Black kids and youngsters aged 14 to 22 perished. A 14th victim died by suicide two years later. No one has ever been charged. The Thatcher government's indifference? Still vile.
Remembering the victims of the 1981 New Cross Fire resulting in the loss of 14 young Black lives 🖤

Imagine making it your life’s work to attack the sick, the disabled and the vulnerable, while at the same time claiming huge sums of money in expenses on top of your very large salary? What kind of person would do that, @Helen_Whately?
