Talk about royally missing the point. Or should I say Ras-missing-the-point You are implying that the intervention under that government was rushed but yours is “justified” because the “previous guys also did it, and they did it first” Incompetence is incompetence. This bill had legally unnecessary elements and its timing is politically tone deaf to Maldivians sensibilities You messed up! Stop chasing your tail! My guy, please get your fries in the bag!!! 💀💀
The Maldives intervened in The Gambia v. Myanmar on 10 November 2023, under the previous Government. It is in that very declaration, Maldives expressly argued that Article V of the Genocide Convention obliges States to enact domestic legislation criminalising genocide. Yet, the Maldives had not done so. It was not this Government that “jumped into proceedings” making that very argument without first addressing our own laws. On 1 October 2024, this Government intervened in South Africa v. Israel, advancing arguments on States’ obligations to prevent and punish genocide, including direct and public incitement. Both interventions were legally justified. Neither required prior domestic criminalisation. This Government is correcting a legislative failure that has persisted for over four decades. That is not headline-chasing. That is doing our job. The facts are clear. Your understanding of them, evidently, is not.

We’re continuing to prepare assistance for residents affected by flooding, including sandbags. The pumps are working and on. Please exercise caution when travelling and look out for your neighbours. If you need assistance, call the Council hotline on 1622. We’re in this together, and we’ll keep doing what we can to help our people through it.

If so, publish the plans, hold public consultations, show the people. explain why these lands must be taken from the elected Council to make that development happen. This goverment has failed in every project they have attempted. Removing these 14 plots from MCC will cause further delay for progress way overdue in this city. The people shouldn't have to loose just because @MMuizzu got only 30%. Reality is; This is a council that will deliver, that is what they are afraid of. 1/2

Replying to @AikAhmedEasa
@AikAhmedEasa and I dont always see eye to eye. But I always believed that you don’t have to agree on everything to recognise the good. His work ethic, his perseverance, nd effort to keep showing up are things I respect. MDP needs a youth wing that does more than talk about the future. It needs people willing to put in the work to build, to organise, to stand up to the old guard when things get difficult, and to keep going when the easy thing would be to give in. I believe Aik has stepped up and kept at it We may disagree on the how sometimes, but we can still work together on the why. And that, to me, is what we need. Goodluck Aik! 💪
I have decided to contest for the position of Zuvaanunge Hivvaruge Raees. MDP’s youth deserve a platform that stays active and gives young members a real space to engage consistently. They also deserve a cohesive Youth Wing, one that remains connected no matter where members live across the country. To help make this a reality, I humbly ask for your support and respectfully seek your vote as we move forward. #VoteAik
