Fantastic choice! Courtney will do an amazing job, though her expertise will be sorely missed on the Hill.
Exciting news at today’s @FCC Open Meeting, Courtney Reinhard was named Space Bureau Chief. Excellent selection to lead this important office essential to American space leadership. 🫡🇺🇸💯

So happy that the great Trace Mitchell (@TraceTheLaw) is heading to @TheFIREorg to become Lead Counsel for Technology Policy and Free Expression! Absolutely huge. Trace is one of the most brilliant analysts and best co-authors I've ever had the pleasure of working with in all my years in the business. Hoping to do more work together with him soon (if I can handle all his silly puns)!
After an incredible two years, today will be my last day with the House Judiciary Committee. With that, I am excited to announce that next week, I will have the honor of joining @TheFIREorg as Lead Counsel for Technology Policy and Free Expression.

We've been getting a lot of questions lately about how the Internet Archive digitizes books. The short answer: page by page, by hand. You may remember our viral 2021 video of Eliza Zhang scanning a book. That's still how we do it. Meet Eliza, and learn how we scan books: blog.archive.org/2021/02/09/…

There's been complaints about news reports that AI companies are destroying books to scan them for building data sets. The @internetarchive has been doing scanning the right way for decades. Preservation is the right method.

It was a pleasure spending time with Dr. Tom Rondeau and the FutureG team today to discuss the future of integrated sensing and communications (ISAC). As I said at last year’s ISAC Strategy Summit, the race for ISAC leadership is already underway. The nations that move first will help shape the technical standards, strengthen supply chains, and realize the economic and national security benefits of this transformative technology.

We’re proud to expand our work with Broadcom with a new agreement to produce billions more chips in the US! It's our largest ever American Manufacturing Program commitment and an important step in our work to build an end-to-end silicon supply chain in the US.

Last week, I led the @FCC delegation at the @ITU Global Symposium for Regulators in Ankara, Türkiye. We had productive conversations with regulators from the Caribbean, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East where we discussed ways to harmonize our regulatory approaches to infrastructure resilience, expanded connectivity, and technological innovation. The FCC delegation shared how the Commission, under Chairman Carr’s leadership, has adopted policies that benefit U.S. consumers, businesses, and our national interests under the Build America Agenda. We highlighted our work to increase access to reliable connectivity, boost the space economy, and strengthen network security. I thank @BrendanCarrFCC for the opportunity, and I look forward to continuing to advance the FCC’s international priorities and America’s interests abroad. docs.fcc.gov/public/attachme… #ITUGSR

Drones and artificial intelligence have become foundational to America’s economic and national security.  These technologies have converged to profoundly impact healthcare, agriculture, war fighting, and more.  American dominance in both technologies requires communications policy that prioritizes widespread deployment of trusted and secure networks, efficient use of spectrum, inter-agency cooperation, and regulatory humility. My remarks at the @scsp_ai #AIExpoDC on how America can command the skies and ensure drone dominance in the age of AI: docs.fcc.gov/public/attachme…

At a moment when technology is reshaping economies worldwide, U.S. leadership is critical.   Voting for the United States is a vote for an ITU that remains focused on solutions that drive innovation and prosperity. Having just launched our campaigns at CITEL, the U.S. asks for your support for the re-election of Doreen Bogdan-Martin as ITU Secretary-General, Jennifer Warren as the U.S. candidate for the ITU Radio Regulations Board (RRB), and the re-election of the United States to the ITU Council. Let's build a digital future together 🇺🇸 state.gov/releases/office-of…

What does principled U.S. technology policy leadership look like? It looks like this address that FCC Commissioner @OliviaTrustyFCC delivered yesterday at the 2026 State of the Net conference. It's one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard a regulator deliver. Let’s take a look:

In 1996, Brewster Kahle wrote "Preserving the Internet" for Scientific American. Nearly 30 years later, it’s striking how many of his predictions about digital preservation came true—and how many challenges remain. Let’s compare 1996 vs 2025 🧵

"Rather than encourage tit-for-tat censorship, Congress should pass a Free Speech Restoration Act, which would prevent the FCC from pulling broadcasters’ licenses based on the speech content in their programming." @thejoekane in @CityJournal
My latest in @CityJournal: The root of the @FCC's attempts to regulate broadcast content is manifestly wrong Supreme Court decisions and an ill-defined "public interest standard." Congress can and should fix both with a RFRA-style 'Free Speech Restoration Act.'
