Solar’s price drop is astonishing: panels are now 98% cheaper than when I first analyzed them in 2004.
Today, building a fence with solar can be cheaper than using wood.

Today I'm excited to announce Heron Power has closed a $38M Series A led by Capricorn, with participation from @Breakthrough, @EnergyImpact_ , @gigascale, @JoinPowerhouse, Valor, JB Straubel, and Zach Kirkhorn.
Heron Power’s first product, the Heron Link, replaces legacy transformers and power converters by directly connecting rapidly growing megawatt-scale solar, batteries, and AI data centers to medium voltage transmission. Our customers benefit from higher power density and efficiency, greater reliability, lower costs, domestic manufacturing, and reduced project timelines.
Over the next 12 months the Heron team will be heads-down in the details, engineering Heron Link. We plan to complete first field demos in mid-2026 with fast-following customer pilots.
Over my 18 year career at Tesla, I was privileged to experience firsthand the impact a talented team laser-focused on clear objectives can have in capital intensive, high barrier-to-entry industries like automotive and energy storage. I am honored to be in the position to do so again with the small and committed team at Heron Power and the backing of an inspiring team of investors and individuals.
@heronpower's goal is to be a responsive, reputable supplier of robust hardware that propels energy project, datacenter, and utility developers faster and further forward towards an all-electric future. Come check out Heron’s open roles or get in touch re:pilot partnerships!

We're proud to share that Vectara was featured in @nytimes for our work tackling one of GenAI’s most critical challenges: hallucinations.
In the article, our CEO & Co-founder @awadallah explains how we measure—and mitigate—LLM hallucinations, with research showing that even simple summarization tasks can lead to made-up information up to 27% of the time.
Combating this issue isn’t optional. It’s essential for building trustworthy, production-ready AI—and it’s at the core of what we do at Vectara.

Sacks is right (of course): in the next four years ,
- AI chips get 100x better
- algos get 100x better (could also have step changes far beyond that)
- data centers get 100x larger
Meaning AI power increases by 1,000,000x
Let that sink in.
People say Grok, o4, etc aren’t “that intelligent” yet. They already know vastly more than any human. In 4 years, they will be 1,000,000x more powerful.
AGInis coming this year, and by 2029 we have ASI.
That’s a BIG problem.

NO FEES on web transactions. Game over for the Apple Tax.
Apple’s 15-30% junk fees are now just as dead here in the United States of America as they are in Europe under the Digital Markets Act. Unlawful here, unlawful there.

didn’t expect this, but here we are:
an author from the very left-leaning german taz makes a case for why not buying a tesla due to the ceo’s political stance is silly and hypocritical. excellent read in these dumb times. translation:
Why I’m Buying a Tesla Despite Everything
On a road trip through Iceland, the author fell in love with a Tesla—and bought one. She doesn’t have much patience for the outrage that followed.
I’ve ordered a Tesla. It’s brand new, a Model Y, cherry red on the outside, black on the inside. Honestly, I’m as excited about it as a little kid. But time and again, I’m asked to justify my decision. “You did what?!” friends and colleagues exclaim, throwing indignant looks my way.
Whether I don’t find it reprehensible—because of Elon Musk, Trump’s rightwingright-hand man in the White House.
In economics as in culture, we grapple with the question of moral responsibility. Should we stop looking at certain art if an artist expresses politically incorrect views? Stop playing or listening to certain music? Toss clothes from certain brands in the trash because a company turns out to be “evil”?
Musk stands in the public eye, offering his critics the perfect target. Meanwhile, those same outraged folks own iPhones, clothes from Shein, or unnecessary gadgets from Alibaba, all made under inhumane working conditions. Or they buy Demeter products, even though leading figures in the organization had Nazi ties. Do these indignant people still use PayPal, perhaps? Its predecessor company was also founded by Musk. Or ChatGPT? He was involved with OpenAI in the early days too.
The alternative would be a life in the woods.
Some will say there are friendly alternatives to all these products. Really? As long as we’re talking about companies, if we look closely enough, we’ll eventually find skeletons in every closet. And where do we draw the line? Up to what point are certain products okay, and when do they become morally objectionable? Is corruption fine? Exploitation in countries of the Global South? People with Nazi pasts in executive positions? CEOs who support certain parties?
As long as we consume, we’ll buy things that could be held against us. And as long as the people who get worked up about my Tesla purchase don’t retreat to the woods, grow their own food, make their own clothes, and live completely in harmony with nature, it’s hypocritical for them to get upset about my decision.
Being against Tesla is the zeitgeist. If you’re against Musk, you’re against Tesla. But the individual advantages I associate with the car have nothing to do with politics. It’s too late for a sticker that says, “Bought it before he went crazy,” like the ones popping up on Teslas in the U.S. Should I hope people believe I made my decision before he “went crazy,” but only now have the money?
