Astra is a step function improvement.
It rendered this oscilloscope in 3D from two reference photos in a single prompt 🤯
One more prompt for the interactivity and animation (which I already had in code). Definitely rough but still... OpenAI really cooked with this one.

Today we’re announcing SPC Fund IV: $575M to help founders find their life’s work.
A decade of guiding founders through -1 to 0 brings @SPC to $2B in AUM and, more importantly, a 1200 member community of the world’s most talented technologists. We strongly believe that:
→ The person comes before the idea. At -1, generational founders are often busy reading, prototyping, discarding, and earning the right to their own conviction.
→ Ambition is social. The people you surround yourself with in the early days play a big part in inflecting your ambition.
→ Patience compounds. It is better to work on something you have deep conviction in rather than simply sprint at the first idea.
The quiet months we protect at the beginning have produced three funds in the top 10% of their vintages, and companies like @baseten, @GammaApp, @render, @GoodfireAI, @LumaLabsAI, and @profound. We are proud to have worked with all these founders in their -1 phase and beyond.
While we defined -1 to 0, we're no longer bound by it. Fund IV allows us to partner with companies well beyond launch.
We're doing this now because we've never seen a wider gap between what's possible and what's being attempted. Intelligence is abundant. The cost of trying ideas keeps falling, and problems that seemed insurmountable a few years ago are quickly becoming solvable.
To our members, to the founders who trusted us before anyone else did, and to the LPs who had conviction in our own -1 journey: thank you. This milestone belongs to you as much as to us.
To the builders looking to find your life’s work: let’s get started.

The time to be maximally ambitious is now.
The $1M Founder Fellowship is open for Fall 2026.
Applications are due August 2nd.

Every founder I meet worries about missing this moment.
The best worry about wasting it. There’s a difference.
It’s a waste to ignore how much the world has changed. It’s a waste to think you can capture value with pure software the same as 5 years ago.
It’s a waste to build something small.
We have seen the shift slowly and then very quickly at @spc.
Here’s who we want in the Founder Fellowship now: hardware tinkerers, mad scientists, obsessives, biohackers, people who build nuclear reactors in their basements.
People who want to get their hands dirty and touch grass and atoms.
If you are only building software, then please (for your own sake!) have a thesis that all your friends laugh at you about. Heresy is the price of ambition.
Then put yourself in the right environment to maximize your ambition.
(Apply by August 2nd)

1/ Today we're announcing Gigascale Capital's $250M first institutional fund to back early-stage founders rebuilding the physical economy.

⚡ Nyquis (nyquis.com) detects utility-caused wildfires before they start. Distribution feeders are the largest piece of unmonitored physical infrastructure in the world, and the protection relays utilities run today are physically incapable of seeing the slow, low-current arcing that precedes most ignitions. That blind spot has cost PG&E $30B+ in wildfire liability alone.
And they're already flagging faults after their first live install. This is huge! @pioneer_fund is super excited to support YC founder @danjohnhunter (Yoshi Mobility) and Steve Bukowski on their journey. They're the perfect founders to be solving this problem. Dan put himself through college as a lineman on utility poles before building Yoshi Mobility and Steve has spent 30+ years in power systems.

10 years ago, we started @spc with just 10 people
The goal: explore frontier tech with nascent markets. To build the confidence to discard the good ideas for the great ones. To take the time to be maximally ambitious.
Proud of the first decade. Hungry for the next.
The goal @spc is to build maximally ambitious companies.
Take some time to find the right mountain. Don't confuse motion for progress.
Our first 10 years have been strong. Now we get to to go build the next decade.

What's uniquely hard about running a startup is that you don't merely have to endure adversity, but have to solve intellectually difficult problems while doing so. It's like trying to find integrals while being chased by a lion.

The shift to EVs is transforming the automotive industry, driven by the increasing demand from EV owners.@yoshimobility @danjohnhunter tells @BrianHagman the evolution of the company and their new mobile EV charging technology in @The_EV_Report .

This ‘supercharger on wheels’ brings fast charging to you. Yoshi Mobility just launched a DC fast charging EV mobile unit that it likens to “a supercharger on wheels.” There is a demand and they recognize it. The company says its 240 kW mobile DC fast charger, which can turn “any EV” into a mobile charging unit, is the first fully electric mobile charger available. Seems like a smart idea for holiday travel. Find busy routes and setup additional fast chargers.
