For the Westminster bubble, Campbell getting challenged on BBC Question Time is treated like political pantomime and studio theatre.
For those who lived through the consequences of the 2003 invasion, there is nothing entertaining about it.
One hundred and seventy-nine British service personnel came home from Iraq in flag-draped coffins. Thousands more returned with shattered limbs, catastrophic brain injuries, and minds destroyed by blast trauma.
While New Labour spin doctors were massaged in Downing Street corridors and redrafted intelligence dossiers to manufacture a pretext for war, young British soldiers were sent into meat grinders like the siege of CIMIC House in Al-Amarah and the streets of Basra—patrolling in lightly armoured "Snatch" Land Rovers that ministers knew were death traps against shaped IEDs.
From the desert wastes of Iraq to the legendary brotherhood of the SAS—where British and Commonwealth operators like New Zealanders in 22 SAS fought and bled shoulder to shoulder, from the harrowing evasion of Bravo Two Zero to black-ops counter-terror raids in Baghdad—our soldiers fulfilled their oath with unmatched courage. They fought for the man on their left and the man on their right. They did not die for corporate reconstruction contracts, Downing Street vanity, or Blairite messianism.
For over twenty years, Alastair Campbell has enjoyed lucrative book deals, fawning media platforms, and podcast respectability lecturing the country on "integrity in public life".
Calling him to account on live television isn’t a political stunt. It is the absolute bare minimum owed to 179 dead British troops, their grieving families, and the generational destruction unleashed in our name.

OLIVER HOLT: The preening triumphalism of Man City stars at Anfield shows they do not have a scintilla of self-awareness between them. These players stand on the shoulders of cheats - and they know it trib.al/SI47nQ2

Do your jobs @premierleague - you’ve found @ManCity guilty of all 115 charges, making them the biggest cheats in football history. So now announce their punishment immediately, act on it, and save this season from being an irrelevant farce.

Roy Keane has his say on the independent Premier League Commission's findings against Manchester City.
David Lister retweeted
Five games, five wins, top of the league. Manchester City, a fortnight after an independent commission found they systematically broke the Premier League's financial rules for nine straight seasons.
So what exactly are we all watching?
Not asking for the season to be scrapped. That's daft, and it punishes nineteen clubs who've done nowt wrong. But I'd like somebody at the Premier League to explain why the table at the top of every sports page is one they already know is wrong.
Because here's where we actually are. The commission has ruled. City lodged their appeal on October 1st. No sanction has been announced. Nobody knows when it will be. Sky are reporting that Premier League clubs themselves don't expect City to even BE in this league next season if the appeal fails.
And in the meantime, the league just carries on. Points are awarded. Positions are published. Clubs are planning January windows around a table that might be fiction.
Think about who that actually hurts. Not City, they're fine, they're top. It's the club that goes down in May by two points and later finds out the table was never real. It's the club that sacks a manager in February over a league position that gets rewritten. It's the staff at a relegated club losing their jobs over a season nobody can stand behind. Real money, real people, decided by a table the league itself can't vouch for.
And the bit that genuinely sticks in the throat. Everton got docked ten points, mid season, reduced to six. Forest got four. Both for single PSR breaches. Both punished DURING the season it mattered, so the table stayed honest.
Eighty charges over nine seasons, plus thirty five for refusing to cooperate with the investigation into it, and somehow that one has to wait.
Carragher's right. Do it this season. Whatever it is, apply it now, to this table, the way it was applied to Everton and Forest. Because every week this drags on, the Premier League is asking us to treat a standings table as real while quietly knowing it might not be.
Due process matters and the appeal has to be heard, I'm not arguing with that. But there's a difference between due process and letting a club sit top of a competition for an entire season while the punishment for breaking that competition's rules sits in a drawer.
The league's credibility isn't damaged by what City did ten years ago. It's damaged by what the league is choosing to do about it now.
Nine seasons. Then three years of charges. Then a verdict. And still, somehow, nothing.
Who's season is this, exactly? 🖤🖤

Sorry, but this is a total farce.
Manchester City players, and fans, celebrating wildly like nothing has happened - despite the club being exposed as the worst cheats in football history.
What happens if they win the title again this season? That could ruin the Premier League.

Manchester City have a 100% record in the Premier League this season.
6 games, 6 wins. But it's all fake.
A sham.
It's been served up by a squad that would not be playing for this club if they hadn't broken the rules. They've been able to attract the best players on the planet, by paying wages that the rules do not allow.

The @PremierLeague has to act asap and announce City’s punishment. This cannot go on.

This is actually taking the piss. Instead of doing something meaningful to help motorists like cutting fuel duty, the Prime Minister patronises British motorists by telling them to click on Google maps to find the cheapest local prices for diesel and petrol. Unbelievable.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Andy Burnham is being deliberately misleading.
UK fuel is double taxed.
Every litre includes fuel duty of 52.95p, then VAT is added to final sale price - after fuel duty is applied.
It's immoral and Burnham could stop it. Instead he boasts about Google maps.
What a fraud.

On the 3rd anniversary of October 7, it’s important to remember the full hideous horror of what Hamas did that day to the Israeli people - and to condemn it, unequivocally.
Those who still refuse to condemn it are complicit in supporting terrorism.
🚨Michael Owen:“This is no longer just about City.”They’re asking what our integrity is worth.
“I feel disappointed. I feel let down as an Englishman and as someone who loves this game. Our country is being tested by this regime, and too many still treat it as only a football story.
We have had great clubs in this country. Some stayed at the top. Some fell and fought their way back. That is the game. We did not cut corners to save them. Fight or fall short. That is the standard.
This Manchester City case is no longer just about the charges. It is asking whether our laws still mean anything, or whether they bend for money and influence.
These people came here, made wealth, avoided tax, and now threaten to walk if the club is punished. That alone should tell government to stand up and protect what this league was built on.
I do not envy City. I care about the integrity that keeps the competition honest. We should not let politicians and corporations decide who faces the rules and who does not.
Arab investors would not get away with this mess in the United States. They would be dealt with immediately. So why are we taking so long to answer a threat to pull investment if City are punished?
City should be dealt with as the law demands. We are British. Our government is strong enough to stand up to pressure. Now is the time to show it.”

Manchester City Breaking rules.
It has taken the authorities over years to conclude that Manchester city are GUILTY of breaking rules.
However the authorities have NOT imposed the punishment.
When Spurs were found guilty of breaking rules the punishment was imposed immediately. 12 point deduction, a ban from the FA Cup and a £600,000 fine.
My point being is that Man city have not had any punishments imposed and are free to carry on playing. In the case of Spurs and Everton the points were immediately deducted in the appropriate season.
Its simple. The rules are you are guilty and here is the punishment. The punishment should be implemented immediately . The process of appeal can then follow.
