Junk science has sent countless innocent people to prison.
For years, unvetted, inaccurate “expert testimony” — including bite mark analysis, microscopic hair comparisons, and bloodstain pattern analysis — have been accepted with little scrutiny by judges, especially in the South, where the criminal legal system has long been intertwined with racial politics.
