Trump and his team act like they are mediating between two countries equally responsible for the war in Ukraine. That framework is morally and analytically wrong and does not advance peace. Treating Putin like he deserves something from his illegal, barbaric invasion only emboldens him to ask for more.

Much of it will end with the exit of Trump and his gang, but the degradation of a society that is supposed to care about such things, and the failure of the laws and norms that are supposed to uphold them will linger. And it will get worse unless there's accountability.
"Donald Trump and his family are executing corruption at a scale never previously contemplated in the American experiment. If we are to ever graduate from this era of brazen graft, the first step is to notice." A service, from @MattWelch. reason.com/2026/07/09/the-mo…

The American people overwhelmingly support Ukraine.
Colorado stands with the people of Ukraine as they continue to fight for their freedom and sovereignty. The Colorado State Capitol is lit in the colors of the Ukrainian flag in a show of solidarity with Ukraine and its people.

These are not transfers from the US, but from other countries. The US is now actively sabotaging Ukrainian defense of civilians.
Breaking news: The Trump administration has not approved the transfer of interceptor missiles to Ukraine that are needed to protect the country from Russian attacks, officials said, a delay that comes as President Trump has embraced Russia in recent weeks. wapo.st/4yCb7T7

Russia has never stopped attacking Ukrainian energy and power plants, despite Trump's "ceasefire"
Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power. The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences. It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters. Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!

Trump has spent years blaming Zelenskyy for the results of Putin's actions, and now he's moved on to blaming him for his own.
What a disgrace to the United States and the free world. President Zelenskyy is on the side of liberty; the president of the world’s leading democracy is on the side of tyranny & aggression.

Putin can't win on the battlefield. He's proven that for over 4 years now. So he is trying to win through terrorism. It's time the world calls this what it is -- a barbaric, terrorist operation. If Cuba is on our state sponsor of terrorism list, Russia should be too.

Aside from Trump's humiliating inability to admit Russia started the war and could end it at any time, Russia stopped most diesel exports in July to conserve for domestic supply anyway.
Why is it "unfortunate" that Russia is losing exactly? Who has to end the "ridiculous and never ending war" - because its not clear given the use of the passive voice.

A free press is supposed to hold our leaders accountable, not serve those in power. I saw what happened to independent media in Russia. I don’t want America to follow that path.

The fish rots from the head. The US presidency that was once the leader of the free world now says "we do bad stuff too" when asked about Russia atrocities and "we are repressive too" when asked about free speech in China.
Reagan once called out an empire by its name, and dissidents everywhere heard him. @jaynordlinger asks whether today's leaders have that same nerve when it comes to Russia's war on Ukraine. thenextmove.org/p/facing-evi…

Beyond parody, but note that every trick Putin uses is imitated by his illiberal acolytes, including Trump. Don't laugh at manipulated ballots, limiting voting options, and soldiers at polling places, because yes, it can happen here.

Those are disgustng words, and he is a disgusting person. Instead of labeling Putin a criminal and a murderer—and treating him accordingly—he wants to hand over a part of Ukraine to him. I never want to see that Traitor in Europe again!
Kushner again blames Ukraine, making the case that if only Putin would be given "what he wants to achieve", "we'd have a deal" and the Trump family could finally get their hands on that cash while Ukraine is genocided.

Of course, blame Ukraine! Never place any responsibility on Russia and certainly never on himself, since rising gas prices are directly connected to his bumbling in the Middle East. Why not tell his friend Putin to end the war on one of their frequent phone calls?
🇺🇸❗️🇺🇦 Trump: Zelensky has to do one thing. He has to stop knocking out diesel fuel in Russia. He is causing a shortage of diesel. This isn’t done by the Middle East. This is done by what’s happening between Russia and Ukraine.

People are now dying of hunger in Russian-occupied Ukraine. Another mass famine, carried out by another cruel regime
🧵URGENT. HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN OLESHKY/THE OCCUPIED TERRITORIES OF THE KHERSON REGION. I am writing to urgently draw global attention to a severe humanitarian crisis on the Russian-occupied left bank of the Dnipro River in the Kherson region of Ukraine, to seek immediate action

Meanwhile, the Republicans via Donald Trump and Roger Stone and Paul Manafort and that whole group have sought a grand alignment or peace with Russia going back before 2016. These guys polluted the minds of one Republican after another on this issue, no doubt since they're so stupid, and they sold the usual simpleton capitalism/Christ narrative as well. So it's very easy for them to also deem everybody a commie. This is not going to be an easy thing to break by all of us talking about it on our computer. Even you Garry. The vast majority of the population is completely mentally AWOL on understanding this group of people and what they've done. @judgeluttig

Even if you put Putin‘s personal ambitions aside, anyone paying attention to what’s going on across Russia in the economy, education, and media understands that it has been entirely retrofitted for perpetual war and nothing else. Not just against Ukraine, but against the West.
I well remember how Putin supporters vehemently spoke out against "dragging children into politics." Yet this is what schools in Putin’s Russia look like today. Instead of merely dragging children into politics, they have been drawn directly into the war, with little soldiers being trained for current and future conflicts. t.me/MirovichMedia/15382
