Verify The Wallet @Americanfort_io Before Sending
A new address can look legitimate and still belong to an attacker.
Imagine Alice wants to pay Bob, but Bob gives her a new wallet address. How can she verify it hasn't been swapped by a phishing attack?
A proposal discussed in a new American Fortress paper tackles this problem with a proof linking the new address to the same hidden wallet origin as Bob’s established identity.
Alice can verify that connection before sending funds, without Bob exposing his seed phrase, private keys, or other wallet information.
The same idea could also help address wallet poisoning, where attackers exploit lookalike addresses to trick users into sending funds to the wrong destination.
One important detail: this is still a research proposal published as an IACR ePrint preprint, 2026/2204. It has not been deployed in production.
If the approach works in practice, it could add another layer of trust to crypto payments.
Self custody gives you control of your funds. Verifying where they’re going is just as important.

what caught my eye with @BeldexCoin is pushing confidential assets straight to testnet on their base utxo layer. sender, receiver, and volume stay hidden by default through ring signatures and stealth addresses not retrofitted onto an evm account model after the fact.
they also froze scheduled token releases for two years to let builder activity catch up before supply expands.
