Ok now I am interested
this might be my last normal tweet before biotech goes vertical i'm not a whistleblower. I don't work at Lilly, Novo or any of the big labs but there is a massive shift happening in human biology right now. it's sitting in press releases and almost nobody reads them the last 6 months alone: - a once-daily pill roughly doubled median survival in metastatic pancreatic cancer (13.2 vs 6.6 months) - a one-time gene editing infusion cut hereditary angioedema attacks 87%, and 62% of patients stayed attack-free and off all other prevention for 6 months - a one-time gene edit for cholesterol dropped LDL up to 62%, and it held for over a year - a personalized mrna vaccine beat keytruda alone in a 1,137 patient melanoma phase 3 - retatrutide hit ~28% weight loss in a phase 3 - an ai-designed drug entered phase 3 - a pill that regrows hair passed its second phase 3 - an immunotherapy that could let some rectal cancer patients skip surgery, chemo and radiation just got fda approved - a man lived 271 days off dialysis on a pig kidney - human cells were caught passing chromosome-sized chunks of DNA to their neighbors, and it changes how the neighbors behave we are on the verge of an era where the human body is a software problem and the update cycle gets shorter everyday stick around, it's going to get weird bio/acc

Security testing is moving from a yearly checkup to always on 18% of CISOs run most of their offensive testing continuously today, 52% expect to within a year They also want AI to close the loop, 70% would use it to retest and confirm their fixes actually worked From a16z's @OwenColby and @steph_zhang, breaking down a survey of 100 CISOs at companies with 1,000+ employees: a16z.news/p/the-new-security…

Am I crazy that I want it just for the light. Touchscreen and M5 Max are a nice to have ;). in all seriousness, congratulations @Apple and @johnternus for the wave of product innovations in the last month! Christmas buying just got easier for my wife.
We’re glowing with excitement over the new MacBook Pro. You’ve gotta touch it to believe it.

I am going to run out of space for apple boxes
Remember the HomeView? Feels like ancient history with how busy Apple is this October.

Fold gate?
Just got Apple’s statement on cracked / broken inner screens on some iPhone Duo units: “We are aware of an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units. If users experience issues with their iPhone Duo display, they should contact AppleCare for a replacement.” A few more points from Apple: ➡️ The issue is affecting a very small number of units. ➡️ The defect appears to show up relatively quickly after people begin using the device Translation: Please do not call this HingeGate! It's not a gate!

Are you considering that at the Yellowstone ranch?
Microsoft just offered buyouts to about 60,000 employees. That's roughly 1 in 4 workers. This is their second buyout this year, after 15,000 layoffs last summer. Meanwhile they're spending billions on AI. The robots aren't coming for your job. They're already sitting at your desk. If you work on the Eastside, now's the time to pay down that debt and build your savings. Nobody's coming to rescue your mortgage.

I am shocked, absolutely shocked, that Anthropic ARR has likely gone vertical in October after they cut token prices. Except the exact same thing happened for the entire AI market, which is why GPU rental prices have surged while token prices declined. $100b plus in year-end ARR looks possible again.

Eric Schmidt (@ericschmidt) says an OpenAI spinout he funded expects to need just 15 employees to manage AI agents. "One of the things that this means is that there will be a lot more companies with a lot fewer people." "I funded a tech startup, which is spin out of OpenAI. And I talked to them for a while. And I said, well, how many people do you need? 15." "What do they do? ... They manage the agents." "So what do you need? A lot of money. Why? Because he's going to use all these different computer systems to replicate humans." "Now, this does not mean that there are no jobs. This is a falsehood in the narrative. It means there'll be a lot of these 15-person startups." "Now, this has a property that the most successful companies will have huge revenue per employee. Big deal. That's wealth creation. That's good for the employees. Is it good for society? Well, it depends on how good the product is." - Eric Schmidt, former Google CEO, on Génération Do It Yourself with Matthieu Stefani

Totally worth every penny!
After a long day playing my fake iPhone Duo accordion, I like to unwind with a fake grilled cheese sandwich made on my fake Duo panini press and have a cold fake beer from my fake Duo fridge. Then listen to my fake Walkman and play a little fake soccer and fake Battleship. All on a very real $2,000 phone.

If your company refers to engineers as the IT department, you have nothing to worry about. You were already breached last week.

Best explanation of what’s going on with PHP today.
Replying to @Denche2005
php is the kitchen that cooks food for a lot of websites. someone found that if you shout a large order, the cook panics. then stranger can walk in and put something rotten on plate waiting to be served to a customer.
