When all the votes are counted, Labour should have their best result in at least a decade and could be about to make their first four-figure net gain in terms of council numbers since 1995, writes @devolusean thesocialreview.co.uk/2023/0…

The government will soon have no more local authorities to conquer, and it will be the teachers, again, who will have to find a way to deal with it - or do as many have done already and quit, writes @DarcysMick thesocialreview.co.uk/2022/1…

Just worth pointing out Labour selected Andrew Western, the leader of Trafford Council and 2x candidate in Altrincham and Sale West to replace Kate Green in Stretford and Urmston over the summer as she’d already announced her retirement at the next election

Hello everyone, I’ve just set up @WoEElects to post the latest political updates about the west of England because for some reason not everyone who follows me here thinks it’s the greatest place in the world. Do give it a follow if you think it’s your thing though.

Here's that poll in map form - I've also shaded seats with a majority of less than 5% for any party in a different shade. Labour's "tipping point" seat that gives them an overall majority is Rugby, which has a Labour majority of 8.04%

Worth pointing out with this map that it illustrates both how bad 2019 was for Labour and how astounding even getting a majority would be - there’s seats Labour lost in 2019 & seats that should have been slam dunk gains in 17/19 in the marginal column they don’t need to get 326!
