Excited to present my work in the @mbruchas lab and visions for my own lab @SinaiBrain on August 27!
📅 Save the date for our upcoming seminar on August 27th! 🧠
Join us as @outRaajeous from the @mbruchas lab at @UW dives into how endogenous opioid release in the dorsal striatum influences goal-directed behavior, hosted by @Tamaramaneuro, @BrandonHughes90, and @veronikakondev.

1/4 🧠 Our latest study - published in @eLife, exploring the pivotal role of the supramammillary nucleus (SuM) in stress resilience! doi.org/10.7554/eLife.90972
We discovered that glutamatergic neurons SuM play a crucial role in responding to stress and promoting active coping behaviors. With @mbruchas and @LexKravitz
🔬 We identified SuMVGLUT2+ neurons projecting to the preoptic area (POA). These neurons arborize to connect with key stress response regions, revealing the complex networks behind coping strategies. 🧩
Excited to share our preprint “Noradrenergic tuning of arousal is coupled to coordinated movements” from @mbruchas' lab.
biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
How does an animal coordinate arousal and movement?
In awake animals, we found that LC-NE activation and deactivation were associated with movement initiations and arrests, respectively. These observations suggest LC’s more nuanced role in coupling arousal and movement.
Many thanks to my other co-authors Akshay Rana, Esther Li, and Myesa Travis; the Bruchas lab; and #NIDA, @FAERanesthsia, @UWAnesthPainMed, @NAPECenter, @seattlechildren

Eating a lot of potato chips or ice cream when you're stressed? Don't worry, you're not alone. We found mice binge eating palatable food (high sugar, high fat) after acute stressors as well.
Endogenous opioids facilitate stress-induced binge eating via an insular cortex-claustrum pathway biorxiv.org/cgi/content/shor… #biorxiv_neursci
