Genuinely--what is the answer for men? Manufacturing's gone. The trades exist, but they aren't growing. Healthcare and education are growing, but patients don't want male nurses and parents don't want male teachers. Are there any growing industries where they fit?
Men have gained essentially no jobs since Trump took office. Since December 2024, the US has added about 760,000 jobs, and nearly all of them went to women, per government payroll data

Like, if you're talking to a guy in his mid-late 20s, no bachelor's, no certifications, where could you tell him to go? There really aren't any jobs with an upward trajectory unless you go back to school for a long and expensive degree.

When did we lose "stay logged in" technology? How did we forget how to make a site that keeps you logged in?

White people don’t say “trashy” anymore they say [country] B
There is Japan A and Japan B. Westerners associate Japan with Japan A, which includes minimalism, Zen Buddhism, appreciation of handicraft, manners etc. etc., but there is Japan B too, loud, chaotic, kitsch, cluttered, sexually explicit and also kind of "3rd-world".

But the natural account obviously *isn’t* sufficient. We don’t have anywhere close to a complete natural account of the universe. Dismissing metaphysics for science has to mean asserting, “I think there’s a possible natural explanation for everything even if we yet lack one.”
the reason i am opposed to mathematical platonism is the same reason i follow science and not religion - i see no reason to embrace a metaphysical explanation when a natural explanation suffices.

Like, there’s clearly no sufficient natural account for why there’s something rather than nothing. We lack complete accounts of things like quantum mechanics, the origin of life, the antimatter asymmetry, etc. Can we assert that there’s a satisfying natural account for all these?

To be clear, my point isn't that open questions prove that there must be something "supernatural"/"metaphysical." (Iffy terms.) My point is just that we cannot reasonably assert there exists a sufficient "natural" (which I assume equals material) explanation for every phenomenon.

Sometimes, makers produce peak. Sometimes, they produce valley. It's hard to tell what they'll do. That's part of the magic of media.

Most arguments for multiple intelligences point to ostensibly unintelligent people with some peculiar areas of brilliance. Why don't we point to ostensibly brilliant people who are dumb as rocks in some very basic areas
it’s probably time to accept that being smart accelerates your acceptance of certain types of stupidness

Everyone assumed that Vance's wife named their son Vivek, but things got a lot more suspicious when we found out that their other children are named Dagoth Ur and Almalexia
JD Vance: "My 6 year old was extremely excited that Ja'marr Chase told him he had nice gloves. So, big day for little 6-year-old Vivek."

And now AirBNB tells hosts they can’t expect guests to clean this up. Ridiculous
NEW - Adolf Hitler's Alpine retreat, the Eagle's Nest, was completely destroyed after a potential arson attack last night in Bavaria's Berchtesgaden, Germany.

Really funny response is people like “do you realize that even Luke decided to lighten the non-attachment rules?” Do you realize Star Wars isn’t real? Do you realize that the writers criticizing/rejecting asceticism is still just my point?
Fascinating how most modern westerners see zero value in asceticism. The prequels are about a monk who refuses to renounce his attachments and becomes an instrument for evil because of it. Viewers can't believe he did something wrong if he did it for love.

Gen Z love the Star Wars Prequels because young men relate to Anakin. A prodigy who has everything taken from him by alien savages, and is told he can't have a family or aspire to heroism by political institutions which constrain his potential while refusing to solve problems.

Pretty much every monastic-ish protagonist--monks, paladins, etc across Star Wars, Cartoon Avatar, Dungeons and Dragons, etc.--has some revelation about how Actually, Love And Romance And Attachment Are Real Heroism. Nobody accepts that self-denial might be good or necessary

Random suspicion I have is that millennials weren’t really the first adults to play with toys. Past generations kept doing it as well. Differences were (1) they could excuse it by getting toys for their kids and (2) their toys weren’t $500 Lego sets or elaborate action figures
>Considered a senior mammal for his species >despite his age, still playing with toys >having the time of his life We can learn so much from them.

Boomers who built elaborate miniature trains or ships in bottles were probably extending their childhood habits in some way. But maybe it’s more noble when it’s a craft instead of just paying for more crap from some huge manufacturer.
