What an experience! So lucky to be among so many amazing leaders. #iei #LeadershipMatters
There’s no evidence that punitive measures make schools more safe. They’re often disproportionately used with students of color and those from low-income families with serious negative consequences for those students. We have to disrupt these systems.
"Restorative justice practices require a shift from a punitive to a restorative mindset. It's a philosophy, not an add-on or a prescribed curriculum. We needed to disrupt structures in schools that put barriers between young people and adults" Principal Edwards, @TruthMontessori
Can’t wait for you all to come back and visit! And anyone else who wants to see the amazing work going on @TruthMontessori

During my visit to @TruthMontessori, students presented projects on fascinating topics like the Punnet square & the brain. We toured the fantastic on-site farm where students learn to care for chickens & grow food.
