Tonight on Question Time, I debated Suella Braverman on what it means to be English. I think there’s one word for her position

"I once completely forgot that I spent 23 years as a Tory and even that I was in one of their most recent cabinets before being fired for incompetence"
Classic spineless Tories. Always ifs, buts, caveats and conditions. So weak and hopeless.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Suella Braverman was a member of the Conservative Party for at least 23 years until earlier this year . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suella_Br…

If Keir Starmer does resign, history will look back on his reign and scratch its head as to why the hell he was so hated. On paper, he's probably delivered more to working British people in such a short time than any PM for decades. After inheriting an absolute mess: NHS waiting lists fallen. Worker's rights improved. Rail operators nationalised. Improved relations with EU and improved UK's global reputation. Removed non-dom tax status. Halved childcare costs. Boosted state pensions. Lowest homicide rate in 50 years. Lifted 550k children out of poverty. Immigration vastly reduced. We are in the age of billionaire funded misinformation, whose sole purpose is to topple democratically elected leaders, and insert leadership that favours the wealthy elites over the working people. Looks like the game plan is working...

Still true.

"Last night we had really racist pogroms, or attempted pogroms, on the streets of Belfast." @MatthewOToole2 tells @lewis_goodall of having to drive children, whose homes were set on fire, to places of shelter. "I'm not sure that experience will leave me for a while."

Havoc on our streets is Putin's wet dream. White supremacism overlapping with neo-Nazism is precisely the ideology being exported by Russian influence vectors to destabilise the UK and Europe. This is not a drill. It's a network war on democracy. And a national security crisis.

"Very poor white people” are being convinced that “very poor, hard-working brown or Black people” are responsible for the “problems caused by billionaire white men”, Allison Morris, Crime Correspondent at the Belfast Telegraph, says in the wake of the riots that spread through the capital of Northern Ireland overnight.

This Ukrainian family moved to east Belfast from Kyiv after Russia invaded. Now they are moving again after violent disorder last night severely damaged their home.
