Detectives from the Nairobi Regional Headquarters, have arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged investment fraud involving KSh. 4.95 million, in a case that underscores the importance of vigilance when navigating the increasingly complex world of financial investments.
The suspect, Harrison Njeru Muthika, was arrested following investigations into a complaint by a man who alleged that he had been induced to invest his money in Forex and cryptocurrency trading.
According to the report, the complainant remitted a total of KSh. 4,950,000 to the suspect through several transactions conducted between April 30 and July 2, 2025, under the promise that the funds would be invested in the two trading ventures.
Investigations into the matter culminated in the review of the file by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), after which a court issued a warrant of arrest, paving the way for the suspectβs apprehension.
The suspect is currently in custody pending arraignment before the Milimani Law Courts, where he is expected to face charges relating to cheating, operating a collective investment scheme without approval, fraudulently inducing trading in securities, and the acquisition and use of proceeds of crime.
The case serves as a timely reminder that promises of lucrative returns should always be approached with caution. Members of the public are therefore urged to exercise due diligence before entrusting their hard-earned money to individuals or entities offering investment opportunities, particularly in Forex and cryptocurrency trading. Verifying the legitimacy and regulatory status of investment ventures can help prevent financial loss and protect investors from potential exploitation.
