Models are getting smarter and cheaper every month, but bringing a single drug to market still costs ~$2.7B and limited by the number experiments humans can run today. I lost my beloved aunt to cancer, helplessly watched my best friend battle cancer, and too many patients like them are still desperately waiting for treatments.
@warpsciences is building the hands, nervous system, and brain of scientific discovery to bring new medicines to patients faster. Warp fits the pattern we look for in category-defining AI companies:

Every AI-for-science bet eventually hits the same wall: going from moving bits to moving atoms. Cutting the latency of that atom-moving loop - automated labs that learn from every run - changes the economics of entire industries. And building this in the US matters for national security as much as for the people developing new medicines.

I’ve known @kevinweil and @dpatil for nearly two decades. They’re two of the smartest people I know. So when they asked @uncorkcap to invest in their new company, we jumped at the opportunity.
Kevin and DJ, alongside Sol Reisberg and @manohar_paluri, are building something that could genuinely change millions of lives: a new approach to discovering medicines that brings together expert chemists, AI, and robotics.
Today, developing a new drug takes years and involves testing thousands of molecules, most of which don't work. And all those failed experiments contain valuable information that today's AI models largely don't have access to.
Warp is building the scientific infrastructure here in the U.S. to help researchers discover new medicines faster, with the goal of dramatically accelerating experimentation. The lab will also generate valuable experimental data to help train increasingly capable AI models.
This team could do just about anything, and they've decided to take on one of the hardest problems in science. Couldn't be more excited to be part of it!

This company was so badly needed and I'm glad @kevinweil @dpatil are focusing on it. We need to reshore critical scientific capabilities from China (and the only way is using robots/AI to bring the cost curve down), so we don’t also lose our pharma industry.

Is it just me or does this feel crazy to charge and additional 10% on tokens if you want regional processing/ data residency in with @OpenAI & @AnthropicAI ? Feels like a $$$ grab.
At this cost, I'm definitely thinking about open source models and managing the cost.

I’m a doctor. This executive order is wrong. The President does not have the expertise to make these changes.
Vaccines are overwhelmingly safe. Vaccines are effective. Vaccines DO NOT cause autism.
Breaking up vaccines will mean children have to get more shots to get the same protection, not fewer shots. It will increase hesitancy and make children less safe.
Parents should listen to their child’s pediatrician about vaccines rather than listening to an inaccurate executive order. This is so wrong.
