In this episode I talk about being diagnosed with a rare disease as a teen & how the studies shared with me only included adult white males.
Now as a postdoc, I develop patient centered preclinical trial methodologies. #RepresentationMatters

How did Black women elders manage stress?
Well, Rosa Parks practiced (and taught!) yoga. Some scholars see this as an example of survival and self-care in networks — leaning on, and into community as part of self care to sustain yourself. #BlackFact

The National Science Foundation cancelled over 60 grant review panels today, effectively grinding funding of new projects to a halt.
The pause comes as NSF grapples with the impact Trump's executive orders will have on their grantmaking process.

We know now that what they're coming after is not one form of thinking. It's not Black history, it's not intersectionality, it's not critical race theory. They're coming after the entire infrastructure that has been created from the civil rights movement.

Universities!! Now is the time to employ 100% of your efforts (marketing, social media, development, alumni relations- everything!) towards this! This effort should not fall on individual researchers alone- but also the institutions who need us to bring in federal funding.

Not to be that guy, but last month my first cover story came out and it details how California, statistically, faces the most extreme threats due to climate change (fire, land loss, and drought) and how the state’s hyper-capitalist approach to housing is making it worse:
In my first magazine cover story, I interrogate the morality of Black reparations, particularly through land ownership, in a nation still plundering the world and itself.

Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to put pressure on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research
