Our response to #COVID19 is beginning to look like genocide of elders. Nearly 6 months of #coronavirus policies that isolate & neglect elders rather than giving them #N95 & imposing penalties on people who won’t #WearADamnMask 👇🏼😡😢👇🏼 @NathanStall @EricTopol @kimwadedc

Working in a nursing home is the most dangerous job in America. Basic measures are needed so front line workers can care for loved ones without risking their lives. ⁦@LoriPorterNAHCA⁩, ⁦@DavidCGrabowski⁩, and I in ⁦@washingtonpost⁩ washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

The double standard women face in medicine is beyond unacceptable. As future leaders, we (current residents) must commit to a zero tolerance policy for any and all comments that reinforce these harmful and overtly misogynistic beliefs. #MedBikini #MedTwitter

AND local turnaround for testing (even if drawn by national guard) is 5-7days. Thanks. Month FIVE but for many nursing homes, what’s changed since March???

Thank you @MAbrahamIPFCC. I stand on the shoulders of the incredible work of @IPFCC and I'm thankful to @JAMDAcom and @AMDApaltc for publishing my voice on #COVID19 and #geriatrics
Let's stop using the term "visitors" for those who are essential to the care and decision-making of their loved ones. Dr. Jeffrey Schlaudecker makes the case in a letter published in JAMDA, Essential Family Caregivers in Long-Term Care During the COVID-19 jamda.com/article/S1525-8610…

We are months into this crisis, and our health care workers are still being forced to reuse masks. It’s unacceptable. Mr. President, fix the PPE shortages before you tee off for yet another round of golf.

Here's your #COVID19 update: ◽️Testing capacity is strained. Again. ◽️PPE in short supply throughout the country. Again. ◽️Today was another record high case count. Again. ◽️NOT ONE SINGLE STATE has a decreasing case count. It's July, people. Not March. This is abject failure.

It’s heartbreaking @LouiseAronson. We are working to designate some family as essential caregivers. jamda.com/article/S1525-8610…
This. I cannot convince our DPH that there is a difference between a visitor and a family #caregiver much less that visitors support key aspects of health that for some old people are more important than not dying from #COVID19 😭😰😥 @NathanStall @wassdoc @CBergmanMD

Yep. This sums it up.
What people are willing to sacrifice now vs in March is largely because back then they thought it might happen to them. Now it’s viewed as mostly happening to other people. Black people. Sick people. Healthcare workers. Elderly people. And they just can’t care enough. #MedTwitter

Here is a model for a better nursing and retirement home visitation policy in Ontario @JAMDAcom: jamda.com/article/S1525-8610… A Cincinnati nursing home distinguished "essential family caregivers" from "visitors" and allowed them in under the same specific protocols used with staff.
