Great work from @EAST_TRAUMA lit review committee. This month's lit review has got me thinking about initial use of water seal in patients with traumatic pneumothorax without hemothorax. Any thoughts on this? The SEAL IT trial challenges the idea that all chest tubes should be placed to suction in traumatic pneumothoraces. 🫁 Researchers found that just one minute of suction followed by an immediate water seal safely reduced total chest tube duration by 16 hours. ⏱️ While hospital length of stay remained unchanged, complication rates did not increase even if a few patients required a brief return to suction. 📉 Review ➡️ east.org/education-resources…
