I am bringing forward a Private Members Bill which seeks to make marriage and sexual relations between first cousins illegal.
I hope the Government will adopt it.
🚨NEW: A migrant has been allowed to remain in the UK with her first cousin because she is married to him
The Home Office initially refused the migrant asylum, believing the couple had only married so she could remain in the UK, but they have since been allowed to stay under the right to a family life through the ECHR

Britain will still require oil during the transition
If the alternative is importing production with a higher carbon footprint from jurisdictions with weaker environmental standards, rejecting British production may simply move emissions overseas rather than eliminate them

Every barrel of oil the UK exports to Europe is one less barrel they would buy from Russia.
Revenue. Security. Common sense. Approve Rosebank now.

The government has today cancelled its plan to remove the Health Services Safety Investigation Body as the statutorily independent ‘safe space’ body dedicated to systemic patient safety learning and improvement in the NHS.
This is good news which we strongly welcome.
About time…
@Conservatives and I have been urging Labour to approve production in Jackdaw since they came into Government over two years ago.
This clip is from March 2025 👇

As @KemiBadenoch pointed out earlier today, if Labour had approved this in the summer - instead of prioritising a London by-election - gas from Jackdaw would be heating British homes well before Christmas.

Approving Jackdaw must be the start.
Labour should do as the @Conservatives have proposed and lift the ban on new exploration and drilling, approve Rosebank and remove the 78% tax rate on companies that’s punishing workers and pushing companies to other countries.

Aaaahhh! Labour’s new rules let tenants challenge excessive rents at a tribunal!
Yet, a Home Office asylum contractor reportedly offered £4,500 a month for a flat the council rents for £1,790
So..can taxpayers take the Home Office to the same tribunal?
Sure they can right? 🤔

Replying to @drlukeevans
But this Government’s dithering and delay - from Ed Miliband’s inaction to prioritising a by-election in London - has put a long hold on the decision. Labour put internal divisions and Party politics first.

Welcome news for the UK that Labour has finally approved the Jackdaw gas field.
First approved under the Conservatives in 2022, Jackdaw could provide around 6% of North Sea gas production at its peak.
That’s enough energy to heat over 1.4 million homes.

Indeed, it was only last week that we heard the Foreign Secretary had given consent for oil and gas licenses in the Falklands, raising questions around why it was OK for workers 8,000 miles away but not for people left in limbo in Aberdeen.
