Trump has done the service of making other Canadians see our energy and resources in the same light that I do: magnificent tools for revenues, jobs, investment, soft power and alliances.
It is therefore a cruel twist of fate that my fellow Canadians’ inclination for exercising this leverage is to 𝘵𝘢𝘹 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳.
Some people want to take this moment to fantasize about potash export taxes and oil production curtailment. They are willing to inflict pain on Canada’s producers, reduce our exports revenues, and jeopardize our reputation as a reliable trading partner in order to experience some short lived schadenfreude.
The stakes and the prize are so much bigger. Canada has an opportunity to shine in this commodity cycle if we choose ambition over pettiness. Let’s focus on the good we can do for ourselves, not the harm we can inflict on others.

Ok, in all seriousness.
The CanMNT 🇨🇦 had a good World Cup.
They got their first win, managed to get of out the group stage and won a knockout game… while missing key players.
That’s progress and banter aside they should be proud.
The exceeded expectations.

We had an amazing time hitting the doors in Calgary last week for our Super Canvass. Premier Smith joined our volunteers and we had so many excellent conversations. We cannot wait to do it again.

Meet the Alberta NDP's new federal boss.
Avi Lewis wants to hike taxes, ban new pipelines, and shut down oil and gas production. And he wants Naheed Nenshi as Premier.
Same party. Same values. Same anti-Alberta agenda.

A year ago I published Don't Be Canada, outlining eight areas in which Canada is uniquely dysfunctional. In the interim 12 months, the Government of Alberta has made meaningful progress on *all eight* categories. This is why I keep telling people that reform is possible now, and to not wait for a messiah to fix everything from Ottawa.
100% failure from the left-wing NDP recall groups.
24 attempts. 24 failures.
The final four Alberta recall petitions aimed at unseating United Conservative members of the legislature have failed.

If you think those cars have disappeared, my kids would like to play hide and seek with you.
Cars disappeared under massive snow drifts in Fort McMurray, Alberta after yesterday’s heavy snowfall and powerful winds. #abstorm
Looks like another dozen failed recalls!
Amazing how much attention was paid when one person in each of these ridings filed papers.
And how little attention now that they have been shown to be nothing but a stunt.

As Transportation Minister, I’d ask NDP MLAs to stop trying to throw their Leader under the bus… #ableg
Two more recalls failed today.
These left wing activists couldn’t even get 10% of the required signatures.
I’m sure the media will give these failures equal coverage to when these recalls were started.

Amir Attaran, the prof cited here, is widely known as one of the biggest whack jobs in Cdn academia (including among his own @uOttawa colleagues, whom he’s claimed, in his various paranoid human-rights claims, are all bigots). Now let’s see what his students think of him….
Rebecca is one of the nicest, hardest working, elected officials I have ever worked with.
She gave the UCP and the conservative movement all of her energy and time.
I will miss her in this role but look forward to whatever is next.
Even if it’s just more dinners at home!
