Boy that's a rough loss for Brooklyn. So many chances to put Boston away in overtime. One bad decision after another by Mikel Brown, but hard to blame a rookie guard in his third game and not the third-year head coach Jordi Fernández for better preparing his team for a moment like that. Keeping Brown in the game for a defense-only possession says it all to me about how ill-prepared Fernandez was. And the Nets remain winless.

This better be the JJ McCarthy moment for Mikel Brown Jr. Last minute heroics fall short of the Win but you just can't put him back on the bench after what he showed tonight. Tell the performance team to come up with a new plan.

Jameis Winston scored a rushing TD and then had the team play duck, duck, goose as a TD celebration 😂😂

We now have a rushing QB so naturally Jameis gets the rushing TD 😂

I was pretty optimistic about the Nets ability to exceed expectations this season. Two games in I'm already out. Vegas had it right.

I get how starved Nets fans are for a star but can we please just let the folks whose job it is to assess readiness and long term health do their job? We aren't winning shit this year. There's no need to rush anything.
Is it time to move Mikel Brown Jr into the starting lineup?

Based on all the comments here it seems fans forgot he had a back injury in college that caused him to miss 12 games. They are being cautious and ramping him up slowly.
Jordi Fernandez said Mikel Brown Jr. won't be off his minutes restriction anytime soon: "We have a plan from our medical and performance [team]... At some point, he'll be able to play more minutes, he'll be able to play back-to-backs, but it's not right now or anytime soon.”

This season is the litmus test. Game 1 isn't enough but it's a rough start.
I still want to believe the Nets didn’t waste 5 1st round picks, but as of now outside of a Egor Demin jump shot the entire group has shown absolutely nothing. I just don’t understand how you can find a way to go 0/5 in an NBA draft. That’s really hard to do.

Dude dropped screen pass from Jameis. Let's just wait and see, Leek
"I don't think it's really that hard to catch any QB's throw. It's just timing. You've got gloves on, so..." Malik Nabers on J.J. McCarthy throwing a higher velocity ball:

Is it honestly any surprise that when we wanted to lose games, we kept finding ways to win? And now that we want to win games... Well, I guess we know how that's going to go.

Guys were hustling harder in preseason than they did tonight. Really poor effort for the home crowd. Jordi needs to take some blame on this too, it never seemed like we had a gameplan.

This has been a really hard game to try and enjoy. They are going to be really bad defensively this year. So far, Vegas had it right.

Honest question - what team would hire Brian Cashman if he lost his job at the Yankees? How desired would he be by teams to step into a new GM role?
Brian Cashman said he and the Yankees have agreed on a new contract. They're just hammering out the final details. "We're locked and loaded."

Damn. That's gotta be the end of a career that had All NBA promise but completely derailed from injuries at every turn.
An MRI confirmed a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon for Ben Simmons. A devastating turn of events on the eve of his NBA return after rehabilitating from back surgeries.

This is correct. Soft coverage by a defense protecting a huge lead. But JJ's scramble alone is enough of a difference maker to give him the starting job.
John Harbaugh says Giants QB J.J. McCarthy did a “heck of a job” in end of game. Notes situation was “different” than managing a whole game. Also has “no problem with Jameis.” Harbaugh declined to name starter for next game, emphatic he won’t decide 10 minutes after a game.
