FDI is the decisive variable, but the physical constraint behind it is power and cooling. We paired Khazna data centres with Barakah nuclear baseload and recycled-water cooling in the Emirates. Similar upfront integration would serve India well.
I don't know if @pranjulb has mentioned this in her full report but the scenarios of import bunch up she has laid out is very much embedded in the broad commitment India has made to import additional $500 billion dollars worth from the US over 5 years as part of the India-US trade deal. This could include a lot of capital goods for data centres(chips), small nuclear power plants, high tech defence etc etc . Her assessment of imports bunching up is spot on and this is likely to widen CAD considerably as exports structurally will remain tepid in the medium term. The only way rupee and external sector will be stable is via large FDIs. There is of course a question mark here!

ظهر وزير الزراعة في بنين جاستون دوسوهوي، وهو يبكي، وذلك عقب الإشادة التي تلقاها من قبل الرئيس السابق باتريس تالون، بسبب إنتاج بلاده من القطن.
وقال رئيس #بنين 🇧🇯 إن بلاده أصبحت البلد الأولى في القارة السمراء زراعة لـلقطن، وذلك بفضل الجهود التي بذلها وزير الزراعة في البلاد جاستون دوسوهوي.
وأضاف رئيس بنين خلال خطاب له أمام مجلس الأمة "البرلمان": "مع التقدم الملحوظ فى قطاع الزراعة تحتل بنين اليوم المرتبة الأولى فى أفريقيا فى إنتاج القطن، والثانية فى منطقة" UEMOA "من حيث إنتاج الحبوب، حيث تم تصدير 600 طن من الأناناس إلى أوروبا، وهو رقم قياسى لم يتم الوصول إليه.. كل هذا وأكثر بفضل وزير حالم ومدير خبير".
وعقب هذه التصريحات ظهر وزير الزراعة في بنين وهو يحاول تغطية وجهه بسبب بكائه متأثرا بحديث رئيس البلاد عن الجهود التي يبذلها.

🚨 India draws a RED LINE on GM imports!
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has made India's position unequivocal: India has never permitted imports of genetically modified (GM) products and will not do so in the future.
He also reaffirmed that dairy remains a highly sensitive sector, with India refusing to offer duty concessions in dairy under any FTA.
For agricultural markets, this is a crucial signal: food security, farmer interests and domestic agriculture will continue to take precedence over trade liberalisation.
India is not ready to open its farm sector at any cost.

The scale of this is difficult to overstate.
