Art means EVERYTHING to me. Itโs where the ancient magic resides, far from the humdrum march of modern capitalism thatโs burning us all outโฆ itโs beauty for the sake of beauty, something that can be enjoyed by anyone and everyone, regardless of wealth.

In 536 AD, everyone thought the world was ending.
A dense fog plunged the world into darkness for 18 months โ but things were about to get much worse.
Here's what the worst year in human history was like... ๐งต

Just a reminder that domestic abuse will rise tonight due to Englandโs loss in the final against Spain. Stay safe everyone.

This might sound pedantic but itโs actually important. โBritainโ didnโt do that, a composer (Sir David Wilcox) and a choir and organist and band did that. And if you ever want it to happen again, you have to keep funding arts tuition in schools.

My brain's not been well in the last week, depression & anxiety have been winning, so in an attempt to bring it some dopamine & lower its stress hormone levels and to do the same for your brain as you scroll by, here are some floral finds from the garden in July:
Big shout out to the Tube platform assistants at Victoria just now. Of course they were just doing their job, but itโs only when there is someone who might require assistance (eg a vision-impaired person) that you get to see how utterly amazing and kind @TfL staff are. Legends โค๏ธ
For reference this was on the Southbound Victoria line train at around 2.24pm today (5th June) @TfL

Michael Heseltine speaking at the Hay Festival:
โRacism is basically what underpins UKIP and Reform. Iโm just over 90, I have lived through some of the most tumultuous events of our time, and anyone who is looking for the common theme: itโs racism.โ

The EU Environmental Regulations USED to protect us from water companies discharging waste into waterways and beaches. Blame the Brexiteers for this, now no one is protecting us. Not even the UK Government.
If @UKLabour and @Keir_Starmer are intent on winning the election, we need to hear how they plan to fix this *literal* shit show of Britainโs waterways.
And while Iโm here, WE TOLD YOU that #Brexit would mean Tories lowering regulatory standards. WE BLOODY TOLD YOU. REPEATEDLY.

If only you really supported the creative industries. If only you hadnโt slashed their funding. If only you hadnโt denigrated arts and creative courses. If only you hadnโt overseen a dramatic fall in music and drama teaching and the closure of music venues.
If onlyโฆ
The @OlivierAwards are a celebration of everything that makes our outstanding theatres world class.
Through our Creative Industries Vision we plan to grow that status further & build a pipeline of talent so our theatres can retain their greatness for years to come.
It neednโt be difficult or complicated to create the space and time to allow someone to find their voice.
A masterclass in kindness and humanity from Michael Sheen.
Just beautiful.
The Entente Cordiale actually shaped my life and familyโฆ having a French aunt, and half-French cousins, sparked my curiosity and interest in France and French from earliest childhood - years later I would spend a decade in Paris as a result.
Vive lโEntente Cordiale! ๐ฌ๐ง๐ค๐ซ๐ท
I LOVE @BBCRadio3 in the mornings. The dulcet tones of @PetrocTrelawny, then @MannGeorgia with brilliant historical detail to tee up the musicโฆ Shostakovichโs 3 daysโ notice to compose s/t for 37th anniversary of Oct Revolution: *highly* relatable for those of us in law firm BD.
Also, feeling chuffed that as soon as @MannGeorgia mentioned music with a Lutheran connection, this amateur Mendelssohnian knew what was coming.

ALT Whatโs something that causes a massive sense of relief to a British person? Iโll go first: Having your perfectly valid train ticket accepted by the inspector.
