This #UNDay, we honour those principles by renewing our commitment to survivors of conflict-related sexual violence. A survivor-centred approach places survivors' voices, choices, and needs at the heart of prevention, protection, response, and accountability efforts. When survivors lead the way, we move closer to a future where dignity is restored, rights are upheld, and peace becomes more inclusive and sustainable.

At the launch of “Ukraine’s State Targeted Social Programme for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings until 2030, SRSG Pramila Patten highlighted the heightened risks of trafficking and conflict-related sexual violence during armed conflict. She commended Ukraine’s survivor-centered approach and the partnership between the Team of Experts and @UNODCRPOEE in advancing protection and justice for CRSV survivors of trafficking. 🚨 1 in 3 women experience violence in their lifetime. Last year, 11% of women aged 15+ experienced physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner. There's #NoExcuse for gender-based violence.

In 🇰🇪Nairobi, prosecutors, legal practitioners, and international experts from across Africa came together for the first Regional Conference on Accountability for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, hosted by the 🇺🇳 @UN Team of Experts on the Rule of Law and Sexual Violence in Conflict. More than a conference, this gathering reflected a shared commitment to strengthening justice systems, enhancing regional cooperation, and ensuring survivor-centered accountability for conflict-related sexual violence. Ahead of the Conference of Prosecutors from Africa on Accountability for Conflict-Related Sexual Violence (CRSV), leaders, prosecutors, diplomats, and partners gathered in #Nairobi to recognize African justice practitioners leading the fight against impunity and advancing survivor-centered accountability.
