Got some new folks following - I offer Aletheia coaching as my main modality of dyad work. I'm also highly influenced by the work of Bruce Tift and Daniel Brown. If you're looking for someone to facilitate deeper self-contact and openness to your own experience, link in replies

The healthy man wants 1,000 things; the sick man wants just one.
I ate something sus earlier and was queasy for hours. finally threw up, and awash in relief and joy and gratitude, for… access to the default state. I know Baudelaire spoke of this… the ecstatic zeal of the convalescent, the recovered man, yelling isn’t it marvellous to be!!!

As the world often seems to reward people who are vicious and unwise, your being seems to reward you for indulgent and unwise behavior. Negative consequences for these acts aren't often seen immediately, and positive reverberations from Goodness often take a long time.

There is something important in this about virtue's near-total lack of glamour. Vice is glamorous, always has been. Cheaters often win, bad people get away with it. When you do good, or Are good, probably no one will notice. Consequences of both are far-reaching and real.

Godless as we are as a society now, much focus is simply put on your material successes. How rich are you? How desired are you? How powerful are you? Character isn't fashionable and rarely sexy. It leads to a kind of integrity and peace not easily demonstrable.

late night raga, put this on and open yourself up to the vibe - let go of concepts, let go of your ideas of what music is or should be for, and - by deeply listening - participate in this meditation on sound, melody and rhythm youtube.com/watch?v=ot6EGydc…

I cannot believe that there are people in this world who truly believe that they should spend their time trying to instantiate a world where nothing ever feels bad and no one ever feels bad. Please, I'm begging you, put your energy towards better wealth distribution or something

Counterpoint: no one can make it through 100,000 prostrations without obscurations coming up and getting cleared
Lacking proper intention, 100,000 prostrations won’t clear a single obscuration. Instead, they will reinforce the already present ego obscurations.

The negative valence is a feature, not a bug
The by far biggest problem of many ~non-physiologically-toxic drugs like psychedelics is their hedonic inconsistency. Anyone who ever had a bad trip knows what I’m talking about. Imagine a psychedelic where you could guarantee that valence will never dip below neutral. Why not just trip willy nilly? Why shouldn’t you take psychedelics like candy? Hedonic inconsistency. This is their biggest flaw. Valence enhancement is the most potent lever for safe psychonautics. I’m not the first one to formulate this insight, David Pearce has been talking about it for years, but still, worth reiterating.

Dead Dog Metta Practice: Imagine the dogs you've known and loved, who are now dead. What if you could channel your love for them and send it to them and it could help them wherever they are now, some way, somehow? Think about one of them, feel the love, and send it. 💖💞🐶💞💖

Try to praise the mutilated world. Remember June's long days, and wild strawberries, drops of rosé wine. The nettles that methodically overgrow the abandoned homesteads of exiles. You must praise the mutilated world. You watched the stylish yachts and ships; one of them had a long trip ahead of it, while salty oblivion awaited others. You've seen the refugees going nowhere, you've heard the executioners sing joyfully. You should praise the mutilated world. Remember the moments when we were together in a white room and the curtain fluttered. Return in thought to the concert where music flared. You gathered acorns in the park in autumn and leaves eddied over the earth's scars. Praise the mutilated world and the gray feather a thrush lost, and the gentle light that strays and vanishes and returns.

my biggest tinfoil hat theory is that much of pop music has been programmed to not only keep us in our basest, most animalistic modes but to make us feel like that is 'cool'. Some of it really does go hard, some of it is fun and fine, some of it is spiritual poison. Good luck!
Indian Classical Music, like jazz, requires some persistent effort to be able to appreciate it. This effort is rewarded handsomely with spiritual fruits. Modern pop music demands nothing of you but inserts into your subconscious mind thoughts, desires, values not your own.

Losing one of my best dog friends today :( Hug your people, tell them you love them, appreciate every cup of coffee, every dappled sunlight through the branches, every miraculous bumblebee

One of my favorite stupid online tropes is when people go "geez the supposedly spiritual guys have STRONG OPINIONS??? how UNENLIGHTENED of them." The most awe-inspiring and dedicated practitioners I ever met had strong opinions about many things, including practice. Wake up :)

We just watched Ghostbusters, what a banger. Bill Murray gets due credit for making the movie but the entire cast is terrific - compared to what you get in theaters today it seems wildly creative. Still hella enjoyable. plus, bustin' makes me feel good
