This would mean securely sending data packets over the internet, with Starlink handling only the transmission—not the processing, tallying, or verification of votes. That said, I believe Starlink should not be used in this context due to its association with Elon Musk. ***If*** Starlink were involved in voting transmission, then Musk could theoretically manipulate data if he obtained the private key needed for both decrypting and re-encrypting data. Here’s why: 1. Data Decryption: The private key is essential for viewing data transmitted securely. Without it, decrypting and accessing the data is extremely difficult. 2. Data Manipulation and Re-encryption: Even if someone could decrypt and alter the data, they would need to re-encrypt it to make it appear legitimate. This also requires the private key, as only the holder of this key can produce valid, verifiable encryption. Without the key, any changes would fail integrity checks and appear tampered. 3. Integrity Verification: Modern encryption systems include digital signatures and checks for data integrity. If the attacker doesn’t have the private key, they can’t correctly re-encrypt the data to pass these checks, which would flag any tampering.
