The truth is that life was brutal and harsh for almost everyone in the 1800s. "Yes it was brutal and harsh. And it gave my ancestors the chance to earn a wage, acquire property, receive an education and benefit from healthcare- all possible thanks to the British Empire."
My ancestors worked as indentured labourers under the British Empire in Mauritius in the 1800s. Yes it was brutal and harsh. And it gave my ancestors the chance to earn a wage, acquire property, receive an education and benefit from healthcare- all possible thanks to the British Empire. We cannot keep teaching our young people a one-sided view of history. I trace the history in my book, ‘Patriot: Empire, betrayal and hope’.

Selective virtue is fake virtue It's obvious that people who only pretend to care about slavery when they can use that to blackmail others have no moral principles. The goal of the left is wealth redistribution. If slavery apologies can help with that then they'll harness it.
Andy Burnham is "open" to an unnecessary apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade. Meanwhile, his cabinet are happy to cosy up to Qatar, where modern-day slavery is still widespread. This is the problem with being selectively virtuous.

“don’t listen to the experts.” probably the best explanation about the changes being realized from AI and why they’re smashing the experts’ narratives.

It's almost impossible for me to believe that this silencing of my right to speak freely is rampant in England now, as if we were living in an authoritarian country
The British Government is preparing an apparatus of internet censorship without parallel in the modern era. At the UN, Andy Burnham announced the creation of a National Centre for Information Defence — Labour’s Ministry of Truth. The Prime Minister says the centre will protect us from hostile foreign powers such as Russia, which he accused of spreading lies and disinformation about Britain, amplifying “far-right narratives” and interfering in our democracy. But the real purpose is to suppress dissent and silence those who criticise the Government or express views about the state of the country that run counter to Labour’s prevailing progressive orthodoxy. FSU Director of Policy and Research David Rose has written a new briefing examining the threadbare research the Government has used to justify its plans. The Government is clutching at straws — and, ironically, already spreading misinformation about the threat of misinformation. It has ignored a wealth of evidence from leading academics to push ahead with its new censorship regime. Burnham’s Government is putting Britain in the same league as some of the world’s most authoritarian powers. Watch the new episode of the FSU Podcast with General Secretary of the FSU Lord Young of Acton on YouTube and read @DavidRoseUK’s report below 👇

Marxists successfully completed a "long march" through the institutions. Now they control the universities and museums, plus "official" history websites, media, and book publishers. They won! But they didn't reckon with people simply deciding no longer to trust official sources.

🇯🇵 No, BBC. We are not "struggling with our identity" in Japan. It is you who is struggling with your identity. We know who we are. We are Japanese. We are not Muslims. We have temples and shrines. We do not have mosques. We will never forget who we are even if you do.

The immigration debate has become far too black and white. You’re either told there are no cultural tensions, or that entire groups are inherently incompatible. The truth is more uncomfortable: numbers matter, culture matters, and integration matters. For immigration to work you need a strong national culture and a genuine expectation that newcomers integrate. Otherwise you get ghettoisation, parallel communities and growing social tension.

These charts are *designed* to make the blame problem look worse for men. When you normalize the y-axis, it is clear that the problem is way worse with Democratic women.
26% of young Republican men blame their problems on women. 66% of young Democratic women blame their problems on men. 🔗 americansurveycenter.org/sig…

He's basically been jailed without trial. They're calling him "far right". He's essentially a political prisoner at this point. They've remanded him in custody until March 2027. He'll spend Christmas in jail. The process is the punishment.

Women shouldn't have to justify wanting women-only spaces. Men shouldn't barge into women's spaces. Men also shouldn't have to justify wanting men-only clubs, and women should stop trying to crash into men's clubs.

I was a big-government liberal. My consumer reporting found problems I thought only government could fix… But economists Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig von Mises made me question what I thought I knew about government policy. @ryanmcmaken of @mises explains their ideas:

The NGOs end up increasing the number of homeless people they manage, because that’s the only way to increase their revenue! Incentives drive outcomes. “Homeless” is a propaganda word used to describe people on the street who are mentally ill or severely addicted to drugs. The word implies that this is someone who fell a little behind on their mortgage payment and they’re one job offer away from getting back on their feet, which is obviously false if you’ve ever tried talking to a “homeless” person in SF, LA, NY, Austin or anywhere else. The honest reality is that we need to bring back asylums for extreme mental illness or drug addiction for those who are a serious danger to themselves or others.
Incentives determine outcomes If you give an NGO a certain number of dollars per homeless person, they will never solve homelessness SF spends more than $1b/yr (up 5x) and the homeless population has only grown NGO fraud is so insane, man.

EXTRAORDINARIO
Milton Friedman on why it is so hard to keep government from expanding: “The benefits from government tend to be concentrated. The costs tend to be dispersed.” “To each farmer, the subsidy he gets from the government means a great deal. To each of a much larger number of consumers, it costs very little.” “Consequently, those who feed at the trough of government tend to be politically much more powerful than those who provide the wherewithal.”

Thomas Sowell keeps saying the things I think more vividly than I can say them. It's depressing.
“They’re being taught that it’s important to have views, and they’re not being taught that it’s important to know what you’re talking about.” Brilliantly put.

Lots of people discuss immigration & crime in Europe, so I compiled what I think is ALL the data on the topic, which is hard because many countries hide it. Do they commit more crime? Is it because of age? Sex? Education? Poverty? Culture? 1. Sexual offenses & violent crime:
