I'm now realizing I never really paid attention to/noticed the decor of The Cheesecake Factory. Must have been busy reading the 100 page menu while shoveling bread into my mouth.

Latest life adventure: my husband's band is playing at a URI fraternity party for parents' weekend. None of my boys go here but their friends do and, over the summer, this was arranged. It's so fun!

Your occasional reminder that a state’s obligation is to educate its children. A “voucher” is not at odds with that commitment. It’s a way to meet it.
For the second year in a row, the state has spent over a billion dollars on private school vouchers — despite funding shortfalls for public schools buff.ly/zOpZjK4

“Today, the Big Five publishers are staffed almost entirely by women. According to the most recent data, more than 70 percent of staffers are women. More than 70 percent of editors are women. Even 70 percent of all interns are women. At the executive level, more than 60 percent of leaders are women. In 2026, American publishing looks like lululemon.”
Is the "boys don't read" problem a matter of supply or demand? More than 70 percent of staff at America's Big Five publishers are women, as are more than 70 percent of editors and a majority of executives. Adam Szetela argues this is the single biggest transformation in the history of American publishing, and that an industry recruiting almost entirely from elite universities has narrowed what reaches the shelves. quillette.com/2026/10/23/why…

Yesterday AOC explained in 10 seconds why she supports the rights of "trans women." Not "just to protect my own rights," she said, but because "I'm a girl's girl." Then she laughed. Does she really not understand why so many women object to men who identify as women entering domestic violence shelters and rape crisis centers, competing in women's sports, and taking awards and promotions set aside for women? The phrase "trans women" does the heavy lifting here. It hides that we're talking about biological men. "Trans-identifying women" would at least tell you what you're dealing with. Progressive politicians won't use it, because it exposes how thin the argument is. A girl's girl would ask what women stand to lose. Instead, she got a laugh line.

"When it comes to “censorship,” it really shouldn’t be that hard to distinguish between keeping pornography out of middle school libraries and banning Toni Morrison’s Beloved—even if it’s a distinction that PEN America and the activist community seem intent on ignoring."

I love her. 20 years ago, she could have run as a Democrat. One of the weirdest things about today’s progressives is how they don’t care about crime, and they don’t realize this is because they’re so affluent that it’s not an issue for them.
New Yorkers deserve results. I joined Good Day New York to share why I’m running for Attorney General and how we can get this office back to work for New Yorkers.

Every single school recognized in the City of Chicago is a Catholic school. Yet @GovPritzker ended the child tax credit that allowed poor families to choose these excellent schools for their children.
Congratulations to all 24 schools across Illinois on your official recognition as a Governor’s Blue Ribbon School. You’ve all gone above and beyond in the past school year and set the standard for excellence in education.

I have no idea why anyone would waste their time listening to a bunch of brainless harpies. These same women would absolutely lose it if a man stood up and declared, “Husbands can always do better than their current wife.”
"Call Her Daddy" host Alex Cooper & actress Sophia Bush: if a woman is questioning whether she can do better than her current husband, "the answer is always yes." "This idea that it's too late or you're too old, or who are you to want more, that's patriarchy. That is crazy."

The thing where one is obliged to pretend to believe this obviously false but politically convenient statistic in order to remain a liberal in good standing is one of those things that used to just kinda grate on me but after 25 years has driven me fully up the wall

It’s crazy that we can just provide for ourselves that thrill of getting a package in the mail—and it’s likely to be the very thing that you wanted and needed, in the exact color that you would have chosen for yourself. Environmentalists can boycott Amazon all they want, but I don’t know how we can ever get past this fact.
