🙌 @codegirlbrooke 's #DIDevOps22 talk on Fostering a Culture of Learning through Observability! moving from a knowing culture to a learning culture is how you *build strong engineering teams*, instead of relying on a small set of strong individuals.

Now that restaurants are mostly open again - * Let's talk about the right way to book them * This is a more complicated subject than one might think (warning: long thread). And a frustrating one for both diners and restaurant owners. And me! Because, well, we've studied it /1

Listen, I can't promise anything, but I'm going to make it my personal mission to fix this
With each passing generation, Xbox tries to shame my Pac-Man ghost avatar by shrinking it ever smaller and smaller. I will not yield. I bought this gamerpic for 80 Xbox Points in 2006, and I'll be fucked if it won't remain the best dollar I've ever spent until the seas boil over

"The problem with taking the org chart at face value is that we end up trying to architect people as if they were software .. people don't restrict their comms only to those connected lines on the chart. We reach out to whomever we depend on to get work done." #TeamTopologies

Next up on my reading stack is #TeamTopologies - it's pretty relevant to some of my projects at the moment and often referenced (i.e. Thoughtworks' tech radar) so I'm excited to finally go to the source rather than building a second-hand understanding. teamtopologies.com/book
After a long break between reads I finally finished #InnovatorsDilemma. It's a great book and makes a convincing case for how hard it is for incumbent companies to adopt disruptive technologies. It felt slightly repetitive at times, thus a little hard to get through.

Fast CI/CD is a game changer, a life changer, a completely different profession than slow, arduous, delayed deployments. It is difficult to overstate and difficult to explain to those who have never experienced the difference. And having done so, it is *excruciating* to go back. – at Seattle, WA
I can’t overstate how frustrating and counter-productive I find our slow CI/CD (1-2 prod daily prod pushes, hours of deploy pipeline latency), having experienced fast (<10 min) on-demand deploys at the @gdndevelopers.

Rewatching the original "Jaws". Half the film is people shouting at and over each other, which is stressing me out a lot more than the thing about the shark eating people. Maybe the title was a reference to the humans' mouths all along?
I don't care of they're maxing out the next-gen hardware. Give me four-player split screen each running the original 800x600 graphics on a single TV, I'm in.

Samsung named two nearly identical phones "A51", then made one of them 0.4mm larger, just to make shopping for phone cases a little more interesting.
