First, the 15,000 Palestinian children claim. Wong told the UN that settler violence had displaced more than 15,000 children in the West Bank in just six months. She reportedly claimed the record had been corrected, yet James Paterson says the original claim remains on her own department’s website. Where is the public correction? Where is the evidence? Then comes the Palestinian statehood decision. @AlboMP explicitly listed the commitments Australia received before recognition: democratic elections, governance and financial reform, ending payments to prisoners and their families under the “pay-for-slay” system, education reform to stop incitement, demilitarisation, recognition of Israel’s right to exist, and NO role for Hamas. But Mahmoud Abbas has been in power since 2005, with no Palestinian presidential election since then. So what happened to those conditions? Today, James Paterson, Shadow Minister for Defence, pressed Wong on whether Australia would reverse recognition if these commitments were never fulfilled. Her answer? No. What was the point of those conditions if recognition cannot be withdrawn regardless of the outcome? Wong refused to provide the accountability Australians deserve. And I have NOT forgotten that during her January 2024 visit to Israel, she did not visit the communities where Hamas massacred innocent people on 7 October, including families and children. Yet her government has continued to place pressure on Israel. Families were slaughtered in their homes, and innocent people were massacred at a music festival. Before that day, Israel had allowed thousands of Palestinians from Gaza to enter for work, hoping economic opportunities would help maintain stability. After October 7, that policy could never be treated as an ordinary economic decision again. Now look at Mansour Abbas, leader of Ra’am, an Arab-Islamist party that became a pivotal partner in Israel’s 2021 governing coalition. In July 2026, Abbas was repeatedly asked whether Hamas is a terrorist organisation that should be destroyed. His response? “I don’t want to give you a straight answer.” Really? After October 7? Abbas has condemned the massacre, but refusing to answer that direct question raises a legitimate concern about political accountability. Israelis deserve clarity from anyone seeking influence over their country’s future. My opinion is simple: Israel’s security must come FIRST. No economic benefit, political coalition or diplomatic pressure should outweigh the duty to protect Israeli lives. I want the strictest security screening, intelligence checks and proper vetting of anyone seeking permission to enter Israel. Where credible evidence of criminal involvement exists, investigate and prosecute. Where a genuine security threat is established, act decisively within the law. And I want every politician seeking power in Israel to condemn Hamas unequivocally and recognise Israel’s right to exist as the Jewish state. Israel is our homeland.
