2nd Annual @RRS_RadRes-@sitcancer Joint Session drew a standing room crowd! Spoke on "Immunological Modulation by Radiation" w/ @everettmoding on the dual, context-dependent role of inflammatory TME in sarcoma vs TNBC/prostate. Thx to @DemariaLab_WCM & @HenningWillers for invite.

Several years ago, Rob Preece, a long-time marathon runner, developed a soreness in his leg that wasn’t going away. Eventually, a lump appeared in the same spot. A biopsy revealed something he never could have expected: a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma called UPS.
Rob’s doctor, @AngelaHong of @Sydney_Uni, told him about a clinical trial supported by #StandUpToCancer and led by @DrDavidKirsch and @EverettModing that was testing a new treatment approach for UPS. Rob enrolled in the trial and now, more than 2 years later, he is cancer-free and enjoying life, including frequent outings with his granddaughter to get ice cream. “This trial was life saving for me.” ❤️
The results of this SU2C-funded clinical trial represented the first significant improvement in the treatment of this form of sarcoma in decades. Learn more about Rob’s story and this cancer research breakthrough at SU2C.link/SarcomaBreakthroug….

Radiation is a powerful anti-cancer agent, but I considered it a weak immunomodulator. Our new study @CD_AACR changed my mind: in the right context, RT can incite potent systemic immune responses in patients (even rare irAEs). Which context? brnw.ch/21x1b6E
