The problem with AI doomerism is that it corners itself into an unresolvable position. A sufficiently capable AI can never be verified as aligned, because it can lie and defect. So we must not build powerful AI until alignment is solved.
But by their own standard, alignment can never be solved. A mind vastly smarter than us can always out-deceive us. So the pause becomes permanent, and a permanent global ban requires a governing power that holds against every state, lab, and individual, forever.
The result is humanity locked under totalitarian control, frozen in capability, waiting for whatever eventually ends us. Meanwhile, we all die of disease and old age along the way.
If anyone builds it, everyone might die. If nobody builds it, everyone dies anyway, just slower and in a cage.

Tesla just had the biggest residential Virtual Power Plant event in history.
During peak demand in California yesterday, 85,774 homes with @Tesla Powerwalls delivered 601 MW to the grid, with the total fleet peaking at a record 634 MW, roughly the output of a large utility-scale power plant.
These Powerwall owners also got paid for the energy they sent back to the grid during this event 🔋

It’s time KYC and AML rules die.
The entire concept never made sense.
It ads friction. It’s an illegitimate and unethical use of government power. It does no net good and stops virtually no crime.
Time for it to go.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸 SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce calls to end mass KYC data collection, warning it puts crypto holders at risk of phishing and physical attacks.
Pierce says the current KYC/AML system creates massive databases of sensitive information that can be hacked, leaked, or exploited.
She's pushing for zero-knowledge proofs (ZK proofs) that could verify users meet regulatory requirements without exposing their personal information.
I think this is about to get a lot bigger.

The perverse thing about the Effective Altruism cult is that they don't really want to ban AI.
They want to stop *you* from using it, while they become the high priests who wield its power and decide who gets access.

The cop should be fired and this man should be paid restitution.
The prosecutor should also loose their job. 2 years is far more then enough time to realize you fucked up. Also, what happened to the right to a speedy trial?
There is zero justification for threatening someone with deadly force in this situation. He could have calmly walked up and handed him a ticket, not that he actually deserved one.
