独立するのに必要なビジネスの部分を、誰も教えてくれない。
英語だと学べる場所があるのに、日本語だと見当たらなかった。
それで自分で作ろうかと思って、10月から始めることにした。

back in my day if you wanted to make an app you had to write code by hand in obj-C, actually read the docs and learn the APIs, manually reference count while avoiding dangling pointers and memory leaks, and then spend two days fighting Xcode to code sign it.
I feel old.

10月から、デザイナー向けMBAを受けていて、勉強になっている。
これまで、インハウスに近い働き方をしてきたので、「自分の仕事をビジネスとしてどう考えるか？」という視点がほぼなかった。
テーマは、商談、価格、契約、ポートフォリオなど。
副業しているデザイナーにもおすすめしたい。秘密にしておきたい気もする笑
資料にはSuperhuman Docsが使われていて、個人的に結構推し。次回は10/29。

話すのが上手いかどうか。
営業向きの性格かどうか。
実績や肩書きがあるかどうか。
人前に出られない理由ってよく挙がるけど、やってみたらどれも本当の理由じゃなかった。
言葉で勝てないなら、アプローチで勝つしかない。何が問題なのか、目指したくなるビジョン、なぜそれが大事なのか。
Ironically that came full circle when I eventually got to help localize Figma into Japanese and Korean.
I think leanring Japanese has helped me become a better designer by reducing some of my design biases and gaining an understanding of problems monolinguals might miss.
What is the definition of good design? Is it what aligns to your expectations of what you think is good design? Or is it design that is effective at what it does?
I can say from experience effective design is often different from what most English speakers think it is.
While everyone else is excited out on all the cool agentic stuff we can do in design and code, I'm geeking out on how to use it to run a business solo.
