thedesignermba.com/sessions?…

back in my day if you wanted to make an app you had to write code by hand in obj-C, actually read the docs and learn the APIs, manually reference count while avoiding dangling pointers and memory leaks, and then spend two days fighting Xcode to code sign it. I feel old.

for anyone that needs to hear this (me) Ship that side project, even if you think no one nowadays cares. You care.

Yep. It allows you to debug the steps instead of prematurely writing off a strategy as nonviable

Story of my life.
People who moved abroad alone in their 20s, handled all docs, bank account, visa, tax, jobs, accomadation, and culture difference These people fear nothing anymore

figma.com/community/file/144…

Got it. So what's your fix here?

If you look at the differences and timeline of PC adoption, internet access and software usage it's really interesting. Japan historically had lower PC adoption and was more consumption based, starting on mobile devices while in the US creation based software was more accessible

Ironically that came full circle when I eventually got to help localize Figma into Japanese and Korean. I think leanring Japanese has helped me become a better designer by reducing some of my design biases and gaining an understanding of problems monolinguals might miss.
A lot of people take for granted how easy it is to use software in Latin script languages. CJK is still causes a lot of challenges. When I first started using Figma you couldn't even type japanese characters so I sent a request to fox that.
