Today, we launched our campaign to Save OSAP.
Doug Ford is gutting OSAP grants and paving the way for tuition hikes, forcing students to choose between an education or a lifetime debt sentence.
At a time when everything costs more and youth unemployment is at an all-time high, young people need more support, not less.
➡️ We're fighting to reverse this, and we need your help to ramp up the pressure: Go to SaveOSAP.ca and take an action with us now.

NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE: We asked for transparency in bargaining - to know what @CECouncil plans to do with our colleges.
They would not tell us without a gag order. We refused to sign it because members deserve to know the truth.
Tell us what's really on the table. #OnPoli #OnLab

It's worth acknowledging all of the work put in by partial-load and other non-full-time faculty members. These members are especially vulnerable during this time of austerity in the colleges, but their contributions to the College and their students shouldn't go unrecognized.

Now is the time for the provincial government to provide the necessary funding to stop current proposed program cuts and layoffs and to chart out a more sustainable funding model for the sector going forward.

Friends, the next years won't be easy. This government is hell-bent on attacking everything we hold dear: our jobs, our rights, the public services we rely on. History teaches us that there's only one way for working people to resist: by working together. opseu.org/news/ontario-2025-…

Ontario decided this was OK.
-Double the number of patients in hallways/day.
-The 7 people dying/day from addictions unchanged.
-Record ER closures.
-No promise for more LTC or hospital beds met.
This is bad for patients - which everyone will be one day.

According to data collected in the 2021 Census, women university teachers, on average, are paid 84 cents on the dollar of their male peers. At the college levels they are paid 85 cents on the dollar. That gap can be even wider for Indigenous and racialized women. (2/3)

We don't bargain concessions because our rights are not ours to give away. They were bargained by members before us & they belong to members who will come after us.
Our job is to bargain members’ demands and secure improved wages, & working conditions.

Let's put this into perspective: faculty wages have MARGINALLY increased each year, but still doesn't meet inflation (the difference is even higher if we go back before 2018). Admin salaries, on the contrary, have increased dramatically (and the # of admin!) Gina = Humber SVPA.
