Since @RailaOdinga discovered that he can enjoy presidential privileges without the accountability of being President, he has participated in the last 4 presidential elections, not to win.
The disorganizations around Raila’s Presidential campaigns are never mistakes. They are intentional, done deliberately so he loses the elections.
You see, as President, Raila will have to deliver on his promises. He will have to fight corruption by arresting the corrupt, create jobs for the jobless, make healthcare work, fix the mess in the education system…….be the hero his supporters think he is.
And since he knows that as an elected president, he will most likely fall short of the expectations of his supporters, he deliberately run a poor campaign and blame others for his loss.
It is better for him that his supporters are left with the hope that if Raila were President, he would have fixed things than him being elected and failing to fix anything.
And so the process to lose elections he would easily win begins.
In his strongholds, his party would sell Party tickets to individuals, often unpopular with the electorate. Popular candidates who choose to run as independent or on other parties part of his coalition movement, are de-campaigned even though their voters would still vote for Raila as President.
This leads to voters apathy.
At the national level, there is always squabbles about campaigns funds and resources. His family members never allow professionals hired to help with Raila’s campaigns do their job and run a professional campaign.
And then we have the likes of @JunetMohamed who eat agents money instead of hiring agents to protect Raila’s votes.
After Raila has lost the election, he will allege that his votes were stolen, poisoning the mind of his supporters, demand that the servers to be opened, setting the stage for confrontation between his supporters and those declared winners of the Presidency.
He will then lead his fanatical supporters to the streets, often mobilized ostensibly to agitate for social issues such as higher costs of living, while in reality these are often blackmail tactics intended to prepare the ground for his handshake with those in power.
With the operation of the nation paralyzed, his supporters killed, businesses destroyed, and to prevent the Republic from descending into total anarchy, Raila would then be offered a handshake that comes with presidential privileges.
After he is sorted, he goes on to support those in power, finding reasons to justify his actions, something like National interests, peace, national unity, blah blah, forgets about his supporters killed in his quest for handshakes, as he plans to lose the next election to repeat the cycle.
Hopefully Wakina @gpdkaluma will stop blaming others as the reasons why Raila is supporting Ruto now.
No, Raila is supporting Ruto not because Kikuyus didn’t vote for him. He is supporting Ruto because he deliberately lost the last election since he was never interested in being President.
This is a lesson some of us, former supporters of Raila learned long time ago. The guy runs not to be President, but to use his supporters to bargain for handshakes after elections.

You are nothing more than instruments of tyranny, complicit in a regime that thrives on fear and oppression. You are sworn to protect and serve the people, yet you chose to become pawns in the hands of a government that has no regard for justice. Dragging a sick, vulnerable citizen from her bed to throw her into a cell for speaking out against a broken system. How can you sleep at night knowing you helped silence a woman simply for demanding what every Kenyan is entitled to , decent healthcare and basic services?

Solid points on the Motor Vehicle Tax:
"We're looking at 2.5%...for insurance premiums from a comprehensive perspective, they're at ~5%. Many Kenyans struggle to even pay that 5% & they even sometimes pay it in installments & some actually take up third-party insurance.."
Q: Is motor vehicle circulation tax an income tax or a wealth tax?
MP Kuria Kimani: If you don't want to pay the motor vehicle circulation tax then don't use the car.
Christine Kahema: Motor vehicle owners are already paying significant taxes...

We have sacrificed building FX reserves ( and boosting national savings) on a preference of a stronger local unit. Monetary Policy had also been kept at a restrictive level for long periods with high positive real interest rates, which tends to support holding speculative Shilling long positions.
As of 2020, looking back a decade, the KES was the strongest unit as measured against the 30 largest EM currencies on FX spot returns (and much higher on Total return basis when you load our higher interest rates). On a regional front, the KES grew stronger than natural competitors in COMESA, where we once commanded 30+% of the intra-regional trade, by a significant factor (by 2020, ZARKES had moved from 14 to 6; EGPKES moved from 17 to 5 and more like close to 2 now if you consider the black market rate). People wrongly point at taxes to explain the lost trade competitiveness instead of looking at our REER, that compounded issues when regional competition had undervalued pairs.
How did we get here? The borrowed foreign currency loans that were sold to the Central Bank by MOF should have been used to bolster reserves but instead supported the C/A deficit. The CBK should have been buying dollars from the market to meet their FX needs - for both debt coupons and for government operations that used to hitherto buy dollars from the market ( like the MOFA). FX Reserves should have only been used for principal debt repayment(making it a 1:1 exchange with MOF). End result is we increased our debt by $30bn (2014-2022) but only had 1bn increase in Net FX reserves at the CBK. At least half of that amount was directly expended to support the C/A instead of those dollars coming from the market.
We will need to keep a slightly undervalued stance to reverse this trend in FX reserves attrition. We should not borrow any incremental FCY loans and ideally should only look to rollover existing loans. If we boost our FX reserves , we will have de-risked the economy and would progressively get more favorable FCY debt rollover costs. This will also boost the national savings rate and bolster the domestic capital, Equity and debt markets. @MwangoCapital @WehliyeMohamed

We have corrupt judges. Dirty magistrates. That's a fact. Ruto, and Rigathi, and at least half of his cabinet are in office because they were able to compromise judicial officers to acquit them, and their friends. The current Attorney General Justin Muturi was once a magistrate who was arrested for allegedly receiving a Sh1 million bribe in 1997. If our judiciary was squeaky clean, half of the loudmouths in UDA would be in jail. However, just because Ruto and his people have had their way in the past with corrupt judges doesn't give him any power to undermine or discredit the entire judiciary. In the cabinet meetings he chairs he has people who were once charged with murder, rape, corruption, and all manner of vile crimes and got away because they paid off the prosecution and the judiciary.
The President has enough personnel at the National Intelligence Service (NIS), Directorate of Criminal Investigations(DCI), and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) who can be mandated to gather evidence to prosecute corrupt judges. Discrediting the entire judiciary is a weak punch. Last year he blamed the opposition for the failings in his government, he has now started blaming the judiciary, and soon he will blame the voters who elected him for giving him a job that he is unable to do. You can’t hire incompetent sycophants and get extraordinary results. Half of Ruto’s cabinet are operating beyond their depth. Ruto is supposedly the brightest of them all, and just because he is a calculating politician doesn’t make him a good leader. Bullying, coercion, threats and intimidation are not leadership qualities, it’s goon behaviour. Ruto should resist sounding like his former boss who did the same while he carelessly borrowed, and left Kenyamore corruption, and in deep debts.
Unfortunately, the Judicial Service Commission have corrupt members who protect corrupt judges and magistrates. I know of complaints from lawyers, and court users that are gathering dust at JSC. Some JSC staff, and the commissioners, will leak evidence submitted to them to the person being investigated. The JSC needs to take its role seriously and deliver on the mandate the constitution bestows upon them. Judicial reform is important but Ruto must desist from attacking the entire judiciary. He should name those in the judiciary he bribes, or bribed in the past instead of demonizing the entire institution. For a president who is shouting about integrity, it's nauseating to see him associating with known criminals. People who are facing active criminal charges for money laundering, land grabbing and even worse Obado who is in court for Sharon and her unborn baby's murder. Sharon was stabbed in the neck, back and abdomen. Her unborn son was stabbed through the spine and the knife exited through the stomach. A president who has some sense of self-respect should choose his company wisely.
The judiciary needs reform but this isn’t the way to go about it Mr President. Additionally, the Law Society of Kenya should actively investigate corruption allegations among its members. If any lawyer has conned you, email me at sema (@) semaukweli.com
Let’s expose dirty lawyers too, it’s some of them who end up as dirty magistrates and judges. #SemaUkweli #TeamCourage

OKIYA OMTATAH ABSOLUTE BANGERS.
"The only medicine for tyrants and strongmen is to fight them back. They must be resisted by all means."
"I take this opportunity to state categorically that I have not bribed any judge, neither am I contemplating doing so. I don’t even know how judges are bribed and I am not so morally depraved that I can do so."
"I look him straight in the eye and challenge him to table the evidence of bribe taking against any judge or bribe giving he has against any litigant and let the chips fall where they may."
"It is, therefore, an equally grave matter if the President does not have any evidence to support his alarming allegations. And from the look of things, he doesn’t have an iota of evidence against the people he has accused of engaging in bribery."
"Otherwise, he would have handed the lot over to law enforcement and thrown the book at them. He would not have presented himself before the public as a comical contradiction on two unstable stilts: Spewing fire and brimstone through his mouth but flailing his hands helplessly, hanging by the skin of his teeth onto an incoherent and pro-imperialist development agenda for the country."
"The President should immediately style up, take a deep breath, and reflect on the all-important office he occupies in the Kenyan State, and unreservedly apologise to the Judiciary. He should also seek forgiveness from the diligent public-spirited Kenyans and institutions that have challenged his pet projects in court, and to the general public. He cannot afford to get drunk with power and begin behaving like some saturated swindler!"
"Further, the President is on a fool’s errand if he thinks that he can intimidate Kenyans and undermine the rule of law. He won’t because Kenyans will stand by the Constitution of Kenya 2010 to the hilt."
"The same goes for his wet dream declaration that he will disobey court orders, or in other words, that he will suspend the Constitution, and rule by executive fiat. There is an absolute bar to such misguided errands in Article 3(2) of the Constitution, which categorically states: (2) Any attempt to establish a government otherwise than in compliance with this Constitution is unlawful."
"The Kenya Kwanza manifesto, which propelled President Ruto to power, was not a referendum to amend the Constitution."
"Finally, the President’s knack of blaming third parties for the failures of his half-backed and visionless policies, points to the fact that he is a dyed-in-the-wool narcissist."
"It goes without saying that any attempt to govern this country contrary to the law will be strongly resisted. The President should make no mistake about that. Come rain come sunshine, the serpent’s eggs will not be allowed to hatch!"
BWANA IF SOMEONE CAN SPEAK TO AN AFRICAN PRESIDENT LIKE THIS, THEN KENYANS ARE TIRED FOR REAL.

BOASTFUL HACKER WHO LIVED A JET SETTING LUXURIOUS LIFESTYLE
On January 20 2017, Alex Mutuku boarded the Lady of Zanzibar, the 554-passenger ferry that operated between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar and Pemba islands. Before that, he took a picture of the red ferry, also known as Kilimanjaro V. “I hope she takes care of me till there,” he wrote on Facebook.
It was Friday, and the time was 10.50pm. A friend immediately commented: “When I grow up, I want to be like you.”
Police now say the 28-year-old Mr Mutuku is the biggest nightmare for banks and other institutions and is a prime suspect in the hacking of the Kenya Revenue Authority’s computer systems.
On Tuesday, he was in a Nairobi court, charged with hacking the KRA system, leading to a loss of Sh4 billion.
A man who displays his lavish lifestyle on social media, Mr Mutuku is the envy of his peers.
Alex Mutungi Mutuku is not your ordinary IT expert and has other pending cases on electronic fraud. But that has not stopped him from his frequent travels. In mid-January, he posting his exploits while on a road trip from Burundi to Zanzibar through Tanzania.
“When you are busy sleeping, I am having a night swim at this neon-lit swimming pool,” he wrote about his experience at Safari Gate Hotel in Bujumbura before he took a bus ride by the shores of Lake Tanganyika.
“Nothing can stop me...I’m all the way up! All the way up!” he posted the next day from Zanzibar and listed his itinerary: Stone Town, Nakupenda Beach, Jozani Forest, Prison Island, Beit al Sahel, Beit Al Amani, The Old Fort, Christ Church Cathedral and Nugwi Beach.
At the beach, he took a few selfies and posted them on Sunday before going home. He wrote: “I can’t honestly say Zanzibar is a wrap because you need a whole two weeks or more to visit every place here. Sadly, I have to leave. This was the most amazing place I have ever visited.”
Back home, on January 25, he took a picture of his Kawasaki motorcycle, christened Ninja Monster: “I love you bae.”
Mr Mutuku, who denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, returns to court next week, when it will either grant him his request to be freed on bond or allow the police to detain him for 40 days.
Meanwhile, he and other people, believed to be his accomplices and arrested together with him on March 8, continue to be under the custody of the Special Crime Prevention Unit (SCPU) and the Flying Squad, who have been pursuing hackers behind a money siphoning wave that has hit several institutions.
Mr Mutuku was arrested at his home in Roysambu’s Lumumba Drive and police accuse him of being part of a group that has been staging salami attacks on banks and financial institutions.
In IT lingo, a salami attack is when small cyber attacks add up to one major attack that can go undetected due to the nature of this type of cyber crime. It is also known as salami slicing.
A police profile of Mr Mutuku says: “He is linked to Exposure Interlink Agencies Ltd and Tylex Construction Company Ltd.”
Police also linked him to five vehicles — a Toyota saloon registration KBX, a Toyota station wagon KBN, a Toyota van KAY, another station wagon KBV and a Land Cruiser KBY.
The profile says Mr Mutuku is a “self-employed programmer” and holds a BSc degree in information systems from the University of Nairobi, from which he graduated in 2012.
“He is skilled in Java, C++, Web languages, PHP, Python.”
Mr Mutuku’s friends who did not want their names published, said they know him as a software dealer and that he was on several occasions hired by companies to conduct penetration tests on their systems.
Penetration tests are safety measures carried out through hacking of systems to ascertain the level of their vulnerability to hacking and pinpoint weaknesses and even fix the gaps in the security of a system.
“I have been friends with him for several years and all I know is that he is an IT guru and can fix a problem with computers in a flash,” said a source. “He also develops and sells mobile applications which are hosted on Google Play.”
Mr Mutuku’s life is displayed on his Facebook page. On January, 8, 2016, he posted a picture of himself holding a white dog while leaning against what seems to be his favourite motorcycle. There was a car in the background. He captioned it: “A house, two cars, bikes, a dog. What more could one ask for? Thank you Lord!”
The description matched that in his statement with police, in which he said his company only did the businesses of solving people’s “IT problems”.
UNDER SCRUTINY
“His statement is under scrutiny and sharing its contents will not be prudent at this particular moment as it contains a lot of details that we are using in our investigations as we pursue other suspects in his circles,” said head of SCPU Noah Katumo, adding that three other suspects believed to be linked to Mr Mutuku had been arrested and would soon be charged.
A day after Mr Mutuku was arrested two weeks ago, a laptop was found hidden in KRA’s main network chambers on the third floor of Times Tower and connected to one of the ports.
In 2015, Mr Mutuku was arrested on suspicion of manipulating and breaching Safaricom’s system and making away with electronic airtime worth Sh20,000.
He had earlier been accused of demanding Sh6.2 million in Bitcoins from NIC Bank in December 2014 and threatening to publish confidential information he allegedly obtained after hacking into the bank’s system. He was also believed to be behind the theft of the bank’s Sh2.88 million on diverse dates.
On March 7, 2013, he bragged on his Facebook wall that he was able to download a copy of the Daily Nation electronic newspaper for free using a programme he had developed in his first year in university.
“Wow! This program still exists! Developed it in my Freshman year/UON. Stumbled upon it in my Hard Drive and thought I would share it now… It downloads the whole Daily Nation e-paper free!” he wrote while sharing a link and a source code for the e-paper app.
Mr Mutuku topped his class at Kathiani High School, Machakos, with a mean grade of A (plain).
It is not clear whether he got married after his June 16, 2015 suicide attempt, when he slit his wrists after claiming that “Delvine”, a woman he had been dating, had cheated on him.
