Only. Assholes. Drive. From. Queens. To. Midtown. (barring something goofy).

It’s also insane to pretend people who live in transit deserts like Whitestone are driving into Manhattan below 60th on the daily, instead of driving to Astoria or Woodside and parking there then hopping on the train.

The governor of New Jersey is preparing to spend ten billion dollars right now to ease congestion on the approach to the no-longer-congested congestion zone. Maybe instead of suing New York he should save $9,999,999,900 and just send us a Harry & David gift basket.

but seriously, you’d see state DOTs spend tens of billions of dollars on pointless highway widenings just to try and get to a fraction of this level of traffic reduction. and unlike expensive highway widenings, congestion pricing *makes* money

I rarely saw red-light running in NYC before 2020, especially dangerous red-light running. (And those who know me know I am observing driver behavior a LOT.) For all the chaos on NYC streets, there was a broadly observed norm. The norm is gone. I see it literally every day now.

At first glance, the worst thing about this is Chicago in a different time zone from MN/IA/MO/KS?

Oh I don't know. It's very talky & you'll hate the characters. Nothing happens.

I started riding the subway along in 1987 when I started HS in Manhattan. I've never seen more unhoused people on the subway in those 37 years.

I started riding the subway alone and regularly in 2006 when I got accepted into Brooklyn Tech. In those nearly 20 years, I have never seen more unhoused people in the subway system than I do today thanks to your cuts to shelters/voucher programs so you can funnel it all to NYPD

BREAKING: The New York Times names Glendale, CA as one of the worst cities for dating. I'm sorry does Madison, Wisconsin have a fountain that dances to Sinatra, a Din Tai Fung, and a three story Target?!

Another ramp shot from a SkyClub; this one is magnificent and almost makes up for the inconvenience of ORD T5 when you take transit. Midday Saturday big metal to NE Asia; i expect both 777-300ERs are full. Hi Chicago!

Lots of similarities between this shooter, the times sq shooter, and the sunset park subway mass shooter in that they all opened fire in public within 100 feet of NYPD then managed to escape and evade NYPD for over 24 hours even with photos of their faces plastered on the news

The 35-year-old NYPD detective who took my report this month makes $170,000 (3x median income for the 5 boroughs) *before* benefits, which include a better health plan than I can get, and a pension, something most private sector employees haven’t been offered in decades
We need to stop grouping cops and firefighters into the definition of β€˜struggling middle class’ when they make $200k a year and have pretty much free health insurance for them and their entire families and a bunch of other perks
