Our volleyball players had tons of fun and improved a lot this weekend at the Holy Trinity tournament. A big thanks to our coaches for giving their time this weekend. @HolyTrinitySD

From 2016-17 to 2023-24 there were 15,000 more students but only 10 more FTE teachers. 📉 Teachers need a strong commitment to address the issues of class size and complexity. Your vote matters. Vote for public education. Read more: bit.ly/3XD8GjY #Vote4PublicEdSk

Alex Rodriguez asked a question. Reggie Jackson answered it. (Shouts to the producer and rest of the desk for staying out of Reggie’s way and just letting him talk. I doubt they expected this answer. But it’s a great few minutes of television.)

I am very proud of all teachers in Saskatchewan and proud of @SaskTeachersFed for their dedication, leadership, and advocacy for well-supported education. I am also proud of the people of Saskatchewan who have spoken up to ensure our students, staffs, and schools have supports

What I hope Saskatchewan residents understand about this STF vote is that this IS about the kids. So many snarky, “this was never about the kids” replies in comments sections, but this fight is for a better education FOR these kids. /1

My classroom’s school year was far more impacted when our school lost a teacher 3 weeks into the year and the most of my students moved classrooms, leading to starting the year fresh. We lost a teacher because our TPR of 25 was too low.

Please ask questions as reporters. Why would it have to be extended? Isn’t the time being affected just volunteer time? What would be the reason to extend the school year? How would you do with teachers contracts ending in June? Start with these.

Last week in SK, 1500 French students had their hopes crushed when Francofièvre was canceled due to job sanctions. Students couldn't attend this CURRICULAR event because the @SaskParty refuses to negotiate in good faith & refuses arbitration. #IAmSTF @SaskTeachersFed #Hoopla – at White City, Saskatchewan

We offered government a path forward through binding arbitration for class size and complexity—and they refused almost immediately. We are hoping they reconsider before Sunday, as further sanctions could include cancellation of many important extracurricular events. (1/2)

Today, @STFPresident hosted a news conference with brilliant education leaders from across Canada to discuss matters of bargaining and what's best for our kids. The education minister posted a picture of a table. Do better, @jeremycockrill.

I was at the table. STF was there, Scott. We cleared two full days to negotiate in good faith. Your team didn’t even enter the building today. Yesterday they wouldn’t start until 1pm, and then had no ability to negotiate. Stop with the lies, as premier you need to do better.

In 2015 SK funded $15,200 per student. Fast forward to 2023. The school board total budget is $2.08B. There are 195500 students in public education. We are currently funding $10,600 per student. The SK Party has cut funding $4,600 per student. Facts matter.

Dear Minister Of Education Jeremy Cockrill, Since May, teachers have bargained in good faith, asking your government to address the most pressing issues in our schools, from growing class size and complexity, to violence in the classroom, to supports for kids who need them.(1/4)

Just for some context: This man, @jeremycockrill, Minister of Ed, with a bachelor's degree and just over 3 years served as an MLA, makes over $160,548 per year + mileage, meal allowances, etc. If he was a teacher he would make $67,793. #makenoise4ed #skpoli

When I was a little boy, the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor. It was a surprise attack, and thousands of U.S. servicemembers perished. As a nation, we were stunned. And we vowed to strike back. Revenge was understandably on everyone’s mind, including many Americans of Japanese descent who opposed the emperor and were peaceful and law-abiding U.S. citizens and residents. In its zeal to exact that revenge, however, the U.S. government overreacted, out of fear and bigotry. They targeted everyone who happened to look like the people who had carried out the attack. Those of us who had done nothing wrong were forced to pay the consequences for the decisions of others far away and disconnected from us. We were interned for years, in open-air prisons, while America went off to fight Japan, Germany and Italy. It’s so important that we carry the lessons of the past through to today. Merely because one group commits atrocities and acts with depravity does not mean vast hundreds of thousands or even millions of others should be lumped together with them and made to suffer. We must never paint with the brush of justice and retaliation too broadly, or the toll of human suffering will rise immeasurably.
