Terfs worry me. They look for any excuse to argue with queer people. I often highlight the importance of safeguarding women and children and terfs disagree with this. It’s like terfs want to actively endanger women and go after kids. This is why terfs are a problem.

Do you as a #LongCovid patient experience paradoxical reactions to meds? A compromised blood brain barrier could be behind it. Another excellent thread by Dara explains why, as well as sharing her personal, scary experience with exactly this.
The 1/4 Dose "Stress Test": What Happens When a Peripheral Med Crosses a Broken Barrier Yesterday 🦸 I finally built up the courage to trial Midodrine for dysautonomia. I made sure I had extra home support, and because it’s fast-acting, I knew that if it went badly, it would at least be temporary. I took just a quarter of a single pill. At first, there were small, promising glimmers: 👉 ⚡ My facial muscles were working better. 👉 🔋 I felt a moderate bump in energy. 👉 🙆‍♂️ I could reach over my head even while standing without immediately getting symptomatic. When Midodrine stays strictly where it belongs, in the peripheral bloodstream, it tightens blood vessels and helps get blood back up to the heart and brain. But for me, the bad side effects outnumbered the positives at least two to one. The Central Nervous System Cascade: 🫗Because my Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) is hyper permeable, the drug didn't stay in my peripheral circulation. It leaked directly into my central nervous system, triggering a severe hyper adrenergic surge: 👉 🫨 Tremors & Internal Vibrations: An intense, systemic humming that my support person could physically feel in my chest, legs, and arms just by laying her hands on me. 👉 🔊 Sensory Overload: Hyperacusis where I could hear "everything, everywhere, all at once," paired with extreme skin sensitivity and total loss of appetite. 👉⚡ Neuropathic Spread: My neuropathy amped up significantly and began rolling upward from my legs into my pelvis. 👉 🫀 Cardiovascular Dysregulation: My heart rate spiked dramatically while doing almost nothing to help my blood pressure. 👉 🧠 Cognitive Shutdown: I completely lost the ability to think straight or hold a thought. Today, the after-effects feel like I ran a marathon. It was reminiscent of my first tilt table test with atropine, the time they had to bring out the crash cart to revive me. Thank goodness I was cautious enough to start with a fraction of a dose. The Biology: Why This Proves BBB Disruption & Elevated MMP-9 🛡️Midodrine is a targeted alpha-1 adrenergic agonist. In a healthy system, an intact blood-brain barrier keeps it in the arms, legs, and torso to constrict blood vessels. However, when you have elevated MMP-9 (matrix metalloproteinase-9), an enzyme that actively breaks down the tight junction proteins protecting the brain, that selective wall is compromised 🚪. ☝️SC2 does this. This has been shown in many studies since 2020. When Midodrine crosses a disrupted BBB: 👉 It binds directly to central alpha-1 receptors in autonomic control centers like the brainstem. 👉 Instead of quietly tightening leg veins, it signals the brain to fire off an intense, systemic "fight-or-flight" sympathetic surge ⚡. 👉 This central activation amplifies motor tremors, spikes heart rate, and drives severe sensory and neuropathic flares. Ironically, this trial acted as an unintended "stress test" for my central nervous system. It directly validates my elevated MMP-9 levels: my BBB is disrupted. It’s a clear reminder that we cannot expect peripheral vascular medications to work as designed if the barrier protecting the brain is actively leaking. This is why tests and proper diagnostics are so very important for patients with LC. 💥We are being given medications that should NOT be crossing into the brain. Major problems can occur wit many medications. 🧠💥 #Dysautonomia #POTS #LongCOVID #TestsTreatmentsNow

I haven't been sleeping well because of the time change coming home and so much on my mind before I head out again. This might drop my 4 hours of interrupted sleep the last couple of nights to 2 hours.
There is something really concerning (and disappointing) going on in the US right now. A dangerous and preventable situation. Let me explain. nextstrain.org/avian-flu/h5n… 1/

1/ Remember the endless obsession with PCR "cycle thresholds" (Ct)? The internet was flooded with claims that if you ran enough PCR cycles, you could get a positive COVID test from pure tap water or a piece of fruit. Let's put this biological illiteracy to rest. 🧵👇 #PCR

“Doctors offices OWNED by hospitals are billing facility fees and additional mark ups because Medicare made it impossible to be independent and charge the lower cost for procedures. Oh and also Medicare makes you do two visits to have this done” fix it for you.
“Routine medical care is often being billed at the much more expensive rate for hospital care, instead of the lower cost for procedures in a doctor’s office.” Doctors’ offices are charging patients 10 times more by claiming to be hospitals wapo.st/47DTzeq

i dunno who needs to hear this but the vast majority of people eoth schitzophrenia are completely harmless - and when they ask you repeatedly for the day of the week and the date and the address you are at, its just because they have been trained by the system that they have to know that info at all times. Give 'em a pen and a spiral notebook and they feel more safe. Its like a less than 1% minority that would ever be violent they just want securitylike all of us need.

I don't know who else needs to hear this but their imaginary friends ain't no different than the one you had as a child. And again its less than 1% that would ever be in any way harmful. Just listen to them, don't try to be a shrink and fix their reality if you ain't trained for that, sometimes your fear is making you miss knowing cool people.

This guy that hangs around here, is cool AF actually. A little weird sometimes (aren't we all??) but literally in all these months of having to chance leaving my shit somewhere to go to court and stuff.... guess who would be sitting right on it when I got back and made sure it eas safe all day and never even asked anything in return (I have hooked him up with food etc as much as i'm able). Mental illness does not equal dangerous.

Police called on 3 year old Black boy—for being "too good" at soccer. Officers escorted his family away in front of all the other kids. After league had them tresspassed from the field. “They really called the police on a 3 year old because he had the ball too much," dad said. The young athlete was already playing in a league with kids 2 years older than him. Other parents on the opposing team are heard on video claiming the kid was "trying to put on a show." His mom replied, "Those grown ups huddled up talking about my son... but he ain't doing nothing but playing soccer." Incident occurred at an i9 Sports league soccer game in Winter Park, Florida. Nevadaney10 doesn’t have an active account on this platform—so posting first full length and credited video here to help raise awareness.

well thats gonna confuse the issue a bit it seems 🫣
So the HIV folks changed CFS to M.E. So now I have M.E. Serious question when I die.. Was it M.E. or HIV that killed me? So now is the time for HIV Research and Orgs step in and lead M.E.
