The Campobello Whale Rescue Team successfully disentangled a North Atlantic right whale yearling in the St. Lawrence Estuary off Rimouski, Quebec on July 10th. CWRT had been tracking this whale since a tag was attached to the trailing lines on June 22nd in the Shediac Valley, GSL

The right whale found dead yesterday off the coast of Savannah died as a result of "blunt force trauma" that included "fractures of the skull," according to @NOAA.
The injuries "are consistent with a vessel strike prior to death," the agency found.

A second NARW found dead 47 days into 2024.
Another critically endangered right whale was found dead off the coast of Savannah, @NOAA announced today. Adding insult to injury, it was another young female -- a calf born last year. The species has fewer than 70 reproductive females left.
