I began to meet with Bob Bernstein, iconic founder of @hrw, shortly after the organization played a leading role in the infamous #Antisemitic Durban NGO Forum. The moral betrayal of @KenRoth @ReedBrody and others was very painful for Bob, as expressed in his @nytimes oped

"Presumably" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. He wants to be prime minister.
In which a highly respected American expert on the Middle East and senior policy maker (@TheDemocrats) discover what is obvious to every Israeli ....
It also means Liberman would rather abandon his insistence on Haredi military service (central not just to the opposition's campaign but to the principle of equality) than join a government that relied even passively on the Arab parties that represent 20% of Israel's citizens. And if restoring the broken relationship with US Democrats is among Israel's goals, treating those citizens' elected representatives as illegitimate doesn't seem like a good way to get there.

Israel Derangement Syndrome - Scotland strain
This is not the kind of Shabbat message I usually want to share, but I feel compelled to share an experience I had today.
I am currently in Scotland visiting my mother, and today I went for a haircut at Westend Hair in Glasgow.
I mentioned to the man cutting my hair that I was visiting from Israel. He immediately asked whether I was worried about Israel, given that it had, in his words, alienated the entire world.
Within about ten minutes, he had told me that Israel was responsible for the worldwide tsunami of Jew-hate, that 7 October was an inside job, and implied that the massacre was a reaction to 80 years of Israeli actions. He also claimed that the attack at Bondi would never have happened without the war in Gaza, and responded to Jew-hate with the equivalent of “all lives matter”.
I shut down the conversation, but it was an extremely uncomfortable and depressing experience. What made it worse was that he was in the middle of cutting my hair. I couldn't simply get up and leave.
I am so utterly sick of non-Jews presuming to tell Jews what Jew-hate is, what causes it and how we should understand our own experiences. The confidence with which some people dismiss Jewish experiences while insisting that their own understanding is more legitimate is astonishing.
I could not be more glad that I made Aliyah. Experiences like this remind me why I am so happy to call Israel home.
Shabbat Shalom. May we all find some peace this Shabbat.

In the Israel-obsessed imagination of @kenroth ("aka Mr Human Rights"), Israel's Arab population is absurdly compared to Black Americans. Or perhaps he knows the analogy is ridiculous, but pushes it to score cheap propaganda points.
Imagine if a political party in the United States were to say, "we won't govern with Blacks." That's what Israel's opposition parties are effectively saying by racistly refusing to govern with Arab political parties. trib.al/3K7nv64

How many "Montgomery County" mini-Israel pockets exist in the US? 10? Less? And what happens to the other (70%?) of American Jews who, for various reasons, don't fit into such model communities? Do they mostly disappear (assimilate)? The process may be inevitable and the least bad option, (aliyah being #1) but it's not a good scenario.
This @yairlapid-@bradlander exchange is cringey and entirely predictable. Lapid makes a good faith effort to reach out with the message that he and other Israeli leaders think American progressives want to hear.
As much as Yair and these Israeli leaders accurately critique BiBi blind spots about changing U.S. politics, the same Israeli critics have their own blind spots. They genuinely believe that this kind of outreach is what the ascendant American progressive forces want to hear.
And, of course — on cue — Lander shuts him down.
Everything about this exchange is depressing.
Universities hijacked by creepy antisemitic ideologistss and hate propagandists: Belgium branch
Onvoorstelbaar.

Head of antisemitic propaganda NGO (aka UK "charity") does more propaganda: @amnesty @AgnesCallamard
“What a night!” exults @AgnesCallamard, celebrating a Democratic win. Yet @amnesty, which she heads, lists impartiality & independence as core values & declares: “Amnesty International has no political affiliation, endorses no political party.” Principles holding strong then.

Hmoud is trying to strip Israel of its legitimate right to defend itself, fight back against Palestinian terrorism and protect its own civilians.
No nation should be expected to tolerate massacres, hostage-taking and attacks on its people without responding.

“One of the most challenging aspects of this media fight is combating the dominant narrative disseminated by human rights bodies and NGOs.”
At the 2001 Durban conference, NGO Monitor President @geraldNGOM recognized the threat posed by NGO-driven campaigns and the urgent need to expose how they shape the public narrative about Israel.
Gil Hoffman's new book, The Blood Libel Machine, argues that the spread of anti-Israel narratives and surge in antisemitism were the result of a premeditated information campaign that had been in the works for decades.
