Belfast City Council has tonight voted to bid to host Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for a third consecutive year in 2028!
This year’s Fleadh brought 1.6 million people to Belfast, with an incredible atmosphere on the streets of our city.
With the Fleadh already set to return next year, here’s hoping we can make it three years in a row! 🎻

Bertie Frazer named by a Met Police officer as one of the people who murdered two Catholic civilians coming home from a GAA match in Dublin. Willie often said his da was an innocent victim of the IRA. The truth is he was up to his balls in murder, just like Willie.

Máire Drumm, the vice-president of Sinn Féin and a Irish republican leader, was assassinated on 28 Oct 1976 by loyalist paramilitaries. She was shot dead in her hospital bed at the Mater Infirmorum Hospital in Belfast Ireland, where she was recovering from eye surgery.

Billy McManus, son of Willie McManus who was one of five people murdered in the Sean Graham Bookmakers atrocity, believes the latest attack on the memorial was "orchestrated" to "bring hurt to us all".
Five people were murdered when a UDA gunman burst into the Ormeau Road bookmakers in south Belfast and opened fire on February 5 1992.

Impossible to disagree with the Belfast Orange Order’s position that they will withdraw from all engagement with the PSNI.
After forcefully policing all determinations against our community for 28 years, the very first one nationalism didn’t like and the weak Chief Constable prioritised pandering to nationalists.
No unionist/loyalist could conceivably have any trust or confidence in this Chief Constable

People are not dirt to be cleaned away.
The use of the word ‘sanitised’ is dehumanising and utterly unacceptable from an elected representative.
Language matters. This deserves outright condemnation and an apology. No community should ever be spoken about this way.

For those who missed Sunday Politics this morning, this is Jim Allister MP stating the PSNI should have sanitised the Garvaghy Road to enable the OO to march down it. SANITISE! These comments go some way to enable understanding of the mindset behind this historic issue. Shameful

The Sinn Féin leadership arrives onto the Garvaghy Road with thousands in attendance for today’s solidarity rally.
The message from this community is clear: there can be no unwanted orange march down the Garvaghy Road.

This is a consequential moment on the island of Ireland.
The Orange Order parade represents a return to the divisions of the past. After 28 years of progress thanks to the Good Friday Agreement, we have come too far to turn back now.
Today, I joined my colleagues in the Congressional Friends of Ireland Caucus in writing to the British Secretary of State Bryant, calling on the Government of the United Kingdom to cancel the Orange Order parade on Garvaghy Road.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The letter states that the United States is a guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement, but the agreement was reached between the UK and Irish governments and Northern Ireland political parties with no such US role or designation.
