Tomorrow afternoon, my Seattle book talk with @theadoptedlife will be on @BookTV @cspan. I really enjoyed this conversation with Angela! Many thanks to her for joining me.
Thank you to @Tatum_Hunter_ at @washingtonpost for this thoughtful review. I am grateful for her perspective as a reporter, a reader, and a relinquishing mother.
Today’s the day! ‘RELINQUISHED’ is available from @stmartinspress. Fourteen years after beginning this project, I’m so excited to share it with the world. I hope you’ll pick up a copy today, and I can’t wait to hear what you think. bookshop.org/p/books/relinqu…
Also, please be sure to talk to people other than adoption professionals whose jobs are specifically to promote adoption when writing on this issue.
An excellent thread from @LizLatty that puts together important pieces around financial precarity, family policing, and private adoption. And the survey she cites on income might not even be dire enough -- my sample found that most relinquishing mothers make <$5k annually.
THREAD: Below is the annual income of recently surveyed first/birth mothers during pregnancy. Economic precarity is the #1 reason people place a child for adoption, where parental rights & often access to their child is terminated forever. #Birthmother #Birthparent #Adoption
Hi Professor Murray! Hope you'll check this out; I will talk about abortion and "Dirty Dancing" all day every day, and always a delight when I get to do it with @BabyJohnny2020.
