There's a certain individual @TerraOrBust who's gained a certain notoriety (infamy) by publishing what he laughably calls a list of 75 Brexit benefits; he's blocked me as he does anyone who challenges him so I will provide my own list of GF Debunkers but first some general points

Really quite something how those who profess to care about growth also don't think the UK needs to do anything different in response to the growing protectionist and coercive intent of the three major economic powers making up 75% of trade.

The Brexit supporters lied and lied and lied. There were no benefits to Brexit, except for the super rich tax avoiders. It’s time to rejoin the European Union urgently.

Replying to @RobbieP_1975
In real terms, by very little, far less than the rise of global or European trade

Reply guys / bots / red wallers, the world isn't 2016 any more, the UK isn't getting special deals from the EU, US, or China, and that's 75% of UK trade. Geography and reality mean we have to deal with the EU. Andy Burnham gets that.

Lula’s victory will be greeted with horror in Silicon Valley. Outside the EU, Brazil has been the biggest holders to account of US tech firms. And Facebook’s actions before the election deserve proper scrutiny
Lula victory speech: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. We cannot have monstrously huge corporations earning millions & billions, paying no taxes to this country & trying to steer this country's election results."

I’m not quite sure how to process the fact that the UK government is now more alarmist than me, a noted conspiracy theorist. Thoughts & prayers to Andrew Neil in these confusing times. broligarchy.substack.com/p/t…

Mitch McConnell has just delivered a warning Trump cannot afford to ignore. In The Wall Street Journal, the veteran Republican senator warned that Trump’s continued submission to Putin could jeopardise his entire legislative agenda. McConnell calls Trump’s Russia policy strategically naive and morally bankrupt. More importantly, he signals that Republican senators may withhold their support unless Trump changes course. This is no longer merely about Ukraine. It is about whether Republicans will allow an American president to keep rewarding a Russian dictator while undermining America’s allies. For once, Trump may discover that Congress has a spine.

Nor do they get the fact that UK growth could still be better without the Brexit imposed trade barriers and that EU growth has also been adversely affected by another Brexitwat, Trump, and his extra tariffs on them

The sheer insanity of American diplomacy under Trump is becoming difficult to comprehend. Steve Witkoff, a New York property developer somehow entrusted with negotiating Europe’s most consequential war since 1945, has just saluted Vladimir Putin as a humanitarian. The man who invaded Ukraine, ordered the destruction of its cities and presides over a state accused of abducting Ukrainian children. Apparently, releasing an American whom Russia wrongfully imprisoned makes Putin a humanitarian. Imagine sending a property salesman to negotiate with a war criminal, only to discover he cannot distinguish between a humanitarian gesture and the man responsible for creating the humanitarian catastrophe. They are so cringe. 😬
Steve Witkoff to Putin: You talk so much about my president, President Trump, being a humanitarian. You are a humanitarian also, sir, and I salute that, I commend you, and I thank you again.

Everywhere I look, people are calling Trump a massive cunt, there must be something in it
Trump: “Russia, frankly, has treated Ukraine pretty well. They haven’t really done much.” WHAT. A. MONSTROUS. FUCKING. CUNT.

In this new global environment where the WTO principle of equal treatment is abandoned - absurdly the UK supported this in a paper - being a third country, even a middle power, is a place of vulnerability. Even worse if you aren't very good at economic diplomacy.

Maybe it already happened when the US coerced the UK I to raising pharmaceutical prices working with the major companies. But here is the key point, there are three powers that can't risk trade war with each other therefore pressuring every country. Including the UK.
