What’s really happening is the USA and Israel are realizing Israel is a failed project and it’s only a matter of time before the entire state collapses. Israel is fighting for its life. This is a last ditch effort and it isn’t going to work.
Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war. To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha. The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final. We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it. Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making. One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

Chinese people needs to understand that Germany is too poor to update their school textbooks because of all the money that needs to send to Ukraine and Israel
In German primary school textbooks, China is still in the 1980s (Shared by a Chinese mom in Germany). "Many Chinese people do not have a car. Meiying’s father also rides a bike or walks…" "Meiying doesn’t have her own room in Beijing. She has to sleep with her parents…" "Chinese people do not shake hands to greet each other. They bow politely…" Falseness like this breeds a natural sense of superiority in kids. And it explains why so many foreigners are stunned when they actually come to China. They’ve been fooled by bad guys.

Jews are so immensely privileged that it's completely legal to openly fund and recruit for the IDF, a Jewish terrorist organisation.

The replies to my X posts are off the charts this morning! On one hand, I’m a “genocide enabler” for pointing out that the ZiR motion isn’t helpful to the wider debate and does nothing to stop what’s happening in Gaza and the West Bank. (Shami Chakrabarti put it far better than I did!) On the other, I’ve got a load of hysterical far-right “patriots” telling me to “go home” because I suggested that pub meetings might not be the most inclusive way of bringing people together. It’s not something I’d die in a ditch over, but surely having alternatives would help? Not so much debate as hysteria. Whatever happened to the art of having a reasonable disagreement?

“Recognise antisemitism as a distinct form of hatred, not just general racism” Remember when people were shitting on Diane Abbot for saying there are hierarchies of racism in this country?

Just once, I’d like the BBC to centre a Palestinian whose family has been displaced and slaughtered in the name of zionism, instead of someone whose feelings are hurt because a British party called zionism, a racist ideology, racist.
- @RMCunliffe “I am a Jewish woman being called antisemitic. I don’t think you would sit here & lecture somebody of any other religion or race on what counted as bigotry or racism towards them in the way you have explicitly called me antisemitic..I don’t think you would do that

So do Palestinians get to speak about the ZiR motion or is it just all you supposed "anti-Zionist" allies that think Palestinians are incapable of thinking strategically?

In South Africa, there were two types of advocates for apartheid: 1) Verkramptes: hardliners who demanded absolute segregation. 2) Verligtes: deceptive pragmatists who favoured calculated concessions solely to modernise, protect, and prolong white minority rule.
.@TheGreenParty conference motion condemns "Zionism as racism". But there are two types of Zionism: 1) a legitimate liberation movement against antisemitic oppression such as Nazism. 2) a supremacist movement that ethnically cleanses Palestinians. Amend the motion! @ZackPolanski

The IRGC has clearly over-estimated the intelligence and reading comprehension of the average Yank. This is objectively a poor and ineffective style of communication.
Iran's IRGC Publishes 26-Page Open Letter To Directly to AMERICANS I read the entire letter. It is FAR more extensive than the excerpts circulating online. The IRGC DIRECTLY addresses American citizens, students, academics and journalists, laying out its view of the war, decades of U.S.-Iran hostility and what it believes Americans should do next. Key points: • IRAN CLAIMS VICTORY: The letter argues the U.S. and Israel failed to achieve their objectives despite vastly greater military spending. It points to Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz, continued weapons production, national unity and damage inflicted on U.S. regional bases. • WHY IRAN DID NOT BREAK: The IRGC says Iran's strength ultimately comes not from missiles or drones, but from Quranic principles, national unity and religious leadership. It devotes several pages to Karbala and the Shia principle of resisting oppression regardless of the cost. • "DEATH TO AMERICA SLOGAN": The IRGC says the slogan targets America's ruling political establishment, NOT ordinary Americans. It argues that Iranians and Americans are both victims of the same political elite. • 73 YEARS OF HOSTILITY: The letter traces the conflict from the 1953 coup through the Shah, the Iran-Iraq War, sanctions, Flight 655, the killing of Qasem Soleimani, the 2025 war, the January 2026 unrest and the current war. • IRGC TERRORISM DESIGNATION: The Guards argue Washington designated the IRGC a terrorist organization because it repeatedly blocked U.S. attempts to weaken or overthrow the Islamic Republic. • NUCLEAR PROGRAM: The letter calls allegations that Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons one of Washington's biggest lies. It notes that U.S. officials have claimed for 25 YEARS that Iran was only "weeks or months" away from building a bomb, yet Iran still has no nuclear weapon. • ISRAEL: The IRGC argues U.S. support for Israel has damaged America's interests, reputation and finances, while American taxpayers continue funding Israeli military operations. • AMERICAN DECLINE: The letter blames foreign wars, military spending, national debt, deindustrialization and poor leadership for weakening the U.S. It contrasts this with China's continued advances while Washington spends enormous resources fighting wars abroad. • CLOSE THE BASES: The letter urges Americans to demand the closure of roughly 800 U.S. overseas military bases, bring American troops home, end aid to Israel and redirect that money toward science, advanced manufacturing and domestic prosperity. • CHANGE U.S. LEADERSHIP: Americans are urged to use their votes to remove politicians the letter describes as corrupt and dishonest. It specifically mocks politicians who think they can buy Americans' votes with a $5,000 payment. • THE WARNING: The IRGC warns that continuing the war could trigger broader political and economic backlash against U.S. interests around the world. • THE OFFER: Despite its attacks on the U.S. government, the letter tells Americans: "We can live together in peaceful coexistence." • THE ENDING: The final paragraphs invoke JESUS CHRIST and IMAM MAHDI, saying Iran awaits their return to establish justice and hopes Americans will ultimately stand alongside Iranians. The central message across all 26 pages is a clear distinction between the AMERICAN GOVERNMENT and the AMERICAN PEOPLE. The IRGC portrays the conflict as the result of decades of U.S. policy while telling Americans that a completely different relationship with Iran remains possible.
