From Facebook: BREAKING: New FBI records reveal would-be Trump assassin Thomas Crooks exchanged emails with Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy BEFORE fatal shooting! Judicial Watch has obtained new documents showing that Thomas Crooks, the 20-year-old who carried out the July 13, 2024 assassination attempt on then-candidate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, exchanged emails with a female deputy from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office prior to the shooting. The heavily redacted records also state that a SWAT officer recovered a “gray remote device with an antenna” from Crooks’ pocket after he was killed. Also, a medic who had climbed onto the roof to examine Crooks’ body was ordered to evacuate after a police K-9 unit alerted on the American Glass Research building. Crooks’ body was left on the roof during the evacuation. The documents also show a sheriff's deputy told investigators she had two email communications with Crooks, though the content of those emails remains redacted. She stated she did not recognize him initially when his photo was released publicly. These new details, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, raise several serious questions that still have not been fully answered nearly two years after the attack: -- Why did Crooks contact a local sheriff’s deputy before the event? -- What was the nature and purpose of those emails? -- Why was the shooter's body left on the rooftop after the K-9 alert? Investigators had previously determined that Crooks flew a drone over the Butler rally site for roughly 11 minutes earlier that afternoon, using it to conduct aerial reconnaissance of the area. The “gray remote device with an antenna” is believed to be the controller for that drone. Despite this pre-rally surveillance activity, Crooks was still able to access the roof of the American Glass Research building and get within 130 yards of the stage with a rifle. How and why? The records do not provide conclusions on any of these points, and significant portions of the documents remain heavily redacted. This latest release adds to the growing public demand for fuller transparency around the Butler assassination attempt, one of the most significant incidents of political violence in modern American history. To be sure, the American people still do not have full answers about what happened that day, especially when they see Trump's undamaged and unscarred right ear. This revelation strongly indicates there is a clear need for a thorough, independent, bipartisan congressional investigation with full subpoena power to address these lingering questions and provide transparency to the public and the victims’ families. No one should have to wonder whether key information about an assassination attempt on a presidential candidate is being withheld. We aren’t rooting for a conspiracy and proof that the incident was staged. The family of Corey Comperatore and the two critically injured others know it was real enough.
