To add some context for those commenting that banging a “hot chick” like this would be every 14 year olds dream. You are right. Controversial truth is that many teens who have raging hormones and sexual interests are going to consent and enjoy sex with the interested adult. Especially if she (or he for the girls) is attractive That’s guy or girl. We aren’t talking about an assault by force in these situations. But that is exactly how “grooming” works. The adult in the situation is using things like sex, validation, gifts, and so on that are pleasurable and inviting to the victim to get the victim into a relationship where they have power over them. And some adult predators are aggressively trying to make this happen, while most are more opportunistic and susceptible of becoming a predator if the situation presents itself. The problem isn’t so much the short term pleasure. The problem is in the consequences afterwards. I have run into this many times over the years where I am talking to an adult (man or woman) who had a sexual relationship with an older adult as a pre-teen or teen. In almost every case the teen “wanted it” and often times in the case of the girls had a crush on the older person and had somewhat tried to seduce the adult into it. The consequences of these relationships are almost always bad, and sometimes catastrophically bad for the teen. We know it’s that way for the girls, but no one ever talks about how it can be horrific for the guys too. The guys often have mental and emotional difficulties and struggle in healthy relationships as adults because of how the grooming affected their development and sexual and emotional responses. And a significant number of these boy teens end up taking their own lives, or turning to addiction. So saying “man I wish I had a hot lady try to bang me when I was a kid” is missing the other side. I remember when I was a teen and I would have loved to have been in a high intensity sexual relationship with any attractive woman, especially some fully developed hot 20 something chick. It actually almost happened to me. But I am glad it didn’t. And you should be glad too. And you should probably stop considering kids who went through this as “lucky,” because that framing is how people end up sounding like they need their devices checked.
She groomed and raped a 14 year old kid she met as his therapist in a juvenile detention center, and continued to bang him until he was 17. We talk about the 50-100 teachers who make the news each year. But there are 1000’s of women in other professions or who just happen to live in the neighborhood raping teens too. And no one will ever know about them.

they’re calling it “Black October” and i don’t think people realize how serious this is in the last 48 hours there have been over 27 major cybersecurity incidents. not in a month. not in a week. in 48 hours any ONE of these would normally be the biggest story of the year PHP: critical vulnerability in the software running 80% of the web. severity 9.2 out of 10 Node.js: high-severity flaw letting attackers take over servers remotely. affects versions 22, 24, and 26 Java: also compromised. three of the most used programming languages on earth hit at the same time GitLab: a perfect 10 out of 10 severity hole in every version since 2014 Railway: hosting platform compromised. API keys for OpenAI, Claude, Stripe potentially exposed Signal: a bug that could leave your mic and camera on after you hang up WordPress: hackers stole a plugin maker’s keys and planted backdoors on websites LiteLLM: an AI tool downloaded 3.4 million times a day was poisoned with a password stealer and that’s not even half the list thousands of AI agent swarms are reportedly scanning and attacking vulnerable servers right now. automated. around the clock security researchers are saying this might be the early stages of a global cyber incident that nobody fully understands yet if you run a website, use cloud services, store API keys on hosting platforms, or use any software built on PHP, Node.js, or Java you are potentially affected update everything. rotate your API keys. change your passwords on critical services. enable 2FA everywhere you haven’t already this is not a normal week on the internet. this is something different

Out of curiosity I looked up what happened to Napster and apparently it got relaunched this year as an AI tool. Kinda poetic.

As a lawyer, seeing the cyclical discourse around copyright infringement is incredibly disappointing. Law is inherently a social construct. What is legal/illegal now can easily change throughout human history (and could be shaped by bad actors!). Use some critical thinking.

I didn't know Sanwa had lever microswitches with adjustable sensitivity, that's pretty cool! I wonder how the feel differs from just using a larger/smaller actuator.
Just added: Sanwa Sanwa XTP-M3L1 Accidental Jump Prevention PCB for JLF, JLX and JLX2. Adjustable settings reduce microwitch sensivity for up direction control. Be sure to choose which type suits your joystick orientation. Come see what's new! buff.ly/lMfUjgI

Street Fighter movie was ...almost not bad. - Choreography was good overall, and their move renditions were really great - Editing was frequently bizarre, and too much random aura farming - Whoever wrote the movie should have their writing license revoked for min. 2 years
shoutouts to all the NYC homies for pulling up to the Street Fighter movie outing!

Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”
